Description

I was tired of the tools I use being in a drawer and not as close at hand. There are several tool holders available for the excellent X3D v3 AMS Riser (links below) because it uses a modular hex system, but none of the holders had everything I needed for my specific tools, or use more filament than I would like, so I made this simple tool holder.

This is version 01 : It holds 2x small pliers/cutters, 1x Olfa utility knife, 1x Bambu scraper, 1x digital caliper (see info below), 1x small screwdriver (see info below), 1x Iroda micro-jet mini torch, and 1x AMS tool by Jody. There are 3x hex plugs on the back to attach to the X3D v3 riser and it was designed to fit as shown in the pictures, but can be rearranged (read below).

I wanted mine on the right side of my printer so tools are in the order that suits this need, but I have included all the files you need to edit the holder to suit your needs:

  1. Main STL to print as is to get what you see in the pictures
  2. A modular STL that separates all of the tool supports into their individual parts to allow you to rearrange them as you see fit.
  3. A 2 plate 3MF with the original as is, and a modular one for you to play with.
    • NOTE - The modular 3MF plate is not designed to be printed, it is simply there for you to use as an idea generator.

I created almost everything in this holder from scratch, but used inspiration from the ones listed in the remix list. I took the main AMS tool holder from the “Bambu Tools Holder for Honeycomb Storage Wall & X3D-v3 Riser” by Lollipop Woodworks. I took the caliper holder from the “All in one tool holder for AMS Riser v2 v3” by Tack, but edited it slightly. The caliper holder was designed for another model, but still works with mine and is the reason I chose their version.

The hex plugs are also taken from the model by Tack, but I strongly suspect that they used the original hex plugs from DutchWorkX3D and edited it to have 3 instead of 2. I had the same fitment issue as with the original ones; they are too tight and need to be sanded slightly to fit into the hexes of the riser. It took less than 5 minutes to slightly sand each side of each hex and it fit perfectly.

Since the screwdriver I have is a very old and specific one, you can replace the holder or edit it. This is the main reason I decided to make a modular version available. Tool preferences are a personal thing so my modular holder should be useful to lots of people.

My X3D v3 AMS riser hex tool holder will work on any version of the X3D v3 Hex AMS riser and is designed to be printed as is. It was printed in PLA, I used 0.2 Standard settings, 3 wall loops, and Normal auto supports. It printed perfectly and the supports were easy to remove.

This is the riser I am using - Remastered X3D V3 Riser by lehighluke: https://www.printables.com/model/730961-x3d-v3-ams-riser-rebuilt-for-printing-without-supp *** IMPORTANT NOTE about the remastered version I used (see make comment I posted). I printed the AMS riser parts on their sides to make sure the large overhangs were perfect.

This is what the remastered version is based on - X3D V3 Riser by DutchWorkX3D: https://www.printables.com/model/564394-x3d-v3-riser-bambu-lab-x1p1-ams-stand
