This modification for the Xiaomi Mijia Bluetooth Thermometer and Hygrometer 2 utilizes external AA batteries. It is a non-destructive, support-free, and solder-free process.

If you require a version that uses AAA batteries, please visit Xiaomi Thermometer and Hygrometer 2 with AAA batteries (Global) (China).

Preparation You will need

1. Two AA battery holders (52mm long, 24mm wide, 13mm high). Ideally, the length should not exceed 52mm, and the height should not exceed 13mm. (If you are skilled, you can also print and create your own model.)

2. Print the Dummy CR2032 Battery (Global) (China) to ensure proper assembly with the thermometer.

This is the battery holder I used, for your reference.

Printing Instructions

1. Ensure you print the Dummy CR2032 Battery first and connect the battery and thermometer correctly. As modifications or optimizations may be made separately, the printing configuration for CR2032 is not provided here.

2. There are two versions in the printing configuration. One is the standard version with a 1.6mm border thickness, which will have a more rounded appearance. The other is the mini version with a 0.8mm border thickness. The comparison chart is as follows:

Except for the main body and the back cover, other parts are interchangeable.

Installation Guide Instructions

Once the Dummy CR2032 Battery is connected, the installation process is relatively straightforward.

1. Place the thermometer into the housing and secure it in place. Note that the front panel of the thermometer has a 0.1mm border to cover the gap between the frame and the thermometer. Do not damage this.

2. Install the television panel connector.

3. Install the front panel decorative piece.

4. Insert the battery holder from the back.

5. Close the back cover.

6. (Optional) Insert the stand bracket into the back cover.

Other

When installing the thermometer, you can align the frame by inverting the device and pressing down on the table towards the end of the process.

Updates

2024.3.22

1. The thermometer window on the front panel has been increased by 0.1mm, effectively covering the gap between the thermometer and the frame.

If you are looking for a modification with a stand or magnetic attachment, we recommend another model (Global) (China)

It allows for a 45-degree tilting stand and magnetic functionality while preserving the original appearance.

Thank you for your support! I don't feel much of an impact because I don't move it very much. But I will consider finding time to optimize it.

The base is too small, causing it to topple over with a single touch, and its connection to the chassis is not secure.

Printed out nicely, the knob stands were a little too long.

how about doing a vertical version to better fit in a drybox? (by the way I love all of the models you're putting out, they are very ingenious)

Thank you very much for your support and feedback. If the current model can be placed into your drybox after being vertical, then only the vent position on the model needs to be adjusted. Is this the vertical version you mentioned?

Yes, just the vent and then two slits on the side for the stand or mount. I'm using these dryboxes, but they use round hydrometers. https://makerworld.com/en/models/58679

It seems that the space here is not enough to hold the thermometer with batteries. Are you sure it's okay?

Awesome, the creator could consider adding a magnetic version

Are you thinking about where to stick it? I directly used nano glue to stick the back cover to the cabinet. To remove it, just pull it horizontally. I don't usually need to remove it.
