Description

Small (S) version of the Sturdy Infinity Cube with strong hinges that won't break easily. This cube is designed with a lot of slack, so that it moves freely.

I designed this after having several fails with other models, where the hinges would break when trying to loosen them after printing. Hopefully, this design will print well for everyone!

These models and openscad source file can also be downloaded from https://github.com/jhpieper/sturdy-infinity-cube

Post-Printing

The hinges should bent quite easily after printing, with the hinges on the front and back side being more tight due to the orientation. Just work the cube a few times and everything should be quite loose.

Cube Sizes

It is best to not scale the model, as it messes with the spacing in the hinges.

Instead, check out these other models optimized for their size:

I'm impressed...the model printed perfectly and all I had to do was change the printer and print bed to match mine.

I absolutely love these! They might even be more addictive than my fidget spinners!

I love these things. I use them as purge objects so I get some really cool designs. I have ADHD and cannot for the life of me just sit down and watch tv or listen to someone. With these infinity cubes, I'm actually able to play with them and focus on what's going on. It keeps my hands busy and scratches that itch in my brain that says I need to be moving or doing something

Hey @CheekyHeeler, that's awesome! I'd love to see how these look when used as purge objects. Do you print them upright with supports?

I print them flat. I try to chose one that's at least as tall as the last filament change. The red one is a medium and the other two are small. I've been printing a lot of smaller objects lately so it's not really an issue, but if it's too short, I typically add a larger purge item to the plate as well or just don't use it on really tall objects.

These are awesome! We took some to a Trunk or Treat event and gave them out at Halloween instead of candy. The kids and parents loved them!
