True Flexi Filament Clip ⧸ Tangle Free Storage
Print Profile(5)

Description
A refined take on the filament clip. True flexi filament clip.
Dual flex arms, a comfortable height and chamfered edges provide smooth handling and a secure hold.
Fits most standard filament spools, including Bambu Lab, SUNLU and common cardboard spools.
How it works
The internal filament path follows a serpentine S shaped geometry. This increases the contact length and creates a secure friction fit without additional locking features. The square opening is intentionally designed for printability and a good-looking mirror symmetry.
Insert the filament into the clip, squeeze the sides and snap it between the spool flanges.
The filament is securely held by friction, making accidental tangles virtually impossible. Unlike clips attached to the spool rim, the spool remains free to rotate during filament drying. Keeping the filament close to the spool core also minimizes bending stress, helping to prevent brittle filament from breaking even after long term storage.
Compatibility
Standard Clip (fits 56 mm to 65 mm inner spool width)
Tested with: ACCCREATE, Anycubic, Bambu Lab, Bambu Lab Clear, Bambu Lab HT, Bambu Lab HT Cardboard, ELEGOO, Filamentwerk, GratKit Cardboard, Polymaker Cardboard, Prusament, SUNLU V1, SUNLU V2 and SUNLU V3.
Small Clip (fits 48 mm to 56 mm inner spool width)
Tested with: ERYONE Cardboard, eSUN Cardboard, Flashforge, GEEETECH, GEEETECH old, GIANTARM, JAYO Cardboard, MATERIAL4PRINT, SUNLU Cardboard
Material
Since the clip relies on elastic deformation, PLA is not recommended. While it does work, PETG, ABS, ASA, PC and unfilled PA provide significantly better flexibility and durability.
If you want to leave the clip on the spool during filament drying, make sure the selected material can withstand the required drying temperature.
TPU Special Edition
Multi material printing with PETG and TPU for AMS works well on virtually any printer.
I recommend getting a dedicated 0.4 mm nozzle for TPU and keeping it exclusively for flexible materials. Avoid using the same nozzle for PLA whenever possible, as PLA residues are one of the most common causes of TPU related clogs. I even scratched a small "T" into my TPU nozzle so I never mix it up.
A1mini tested successfully: PETG Basic + TPU for AMS on A1mini.
If the A1mini can do it reliably, almost any modern printer should.
Use Textured PEI build plate with Glue Stick or suffer.
Multi material printing with ASA and TPU for AMS (or TPU 90A) is intended for advanced users.
ASA and TPU require very different nozzle temperatures and TPU is also sensitive to excessive chamber temperatures. Before printing, make sure to read the Bambu Wiki recommendations for this material combination.

About
Inspired by @LemonArts Flex Filament Clip concept, this model was completely redesigned from scratch with a focus on improved usability, flexibility and compatibility.
Boost Me (for free)
Support for this model helps fund 3D printing in a local school in Lower Saxony, Germany. Contributions go toward printers and filament for student maker and robotics clubs, including preparation for "Jugend forscht" competitions. Likes, follows, and boosts help increase visibility and indirectly support hands-on technical education.
Translation Notice: I am not a native English speaker. I write all descriptions in English to ensure the best automated translation into other languages. To make the text smoother and more readable, I use language tools to refine my wording.
Bill of Materials Notice: Hero Shot models are usually printed in Bambu Lab PLA Basic, primarily Pumpkin Orange, Purple and Matte Charcoal Black. The Bill of Materials contains the recommended filament for the model, which may differ from the filament used for the photos.
Purchases made via the BOM support my work through the Maker World Commission Incentive at no extra cost to you.
