Tensegrity Table

This small table uses the Tensegrity system to give the illusion that the table is flying. This mini table is decorative, as it can support little weight.

Materials

To print it correctly and assemble it as in the image, you will need to print 16 chain pieces (4 for each row). Two supports (blue pieces) and two purple pieces (table bases). For the central attachment, you can use a small elastic band to create tension and bring them together. In my case, I used a clip.

Assembly

As seen in the photograph, you must make 4 rows of 4 chains each, and fit each row into each attachment on a base. The blue pieces are placed on the bases, more precisely in the circular holes (THE HOLES ARE VERY TIGHT, IF THE PIECE DOES NOT FIT, SAND THE BLUE PIECES A LITTLE). Once everything is in place, you must attach an elastic band that pulls with enough force so that the blue pieces do not touch the opposite purple base. Otherwise, it will not work.

If you are skilled, you can scale or adjust this model to your liking, but the chains may not remain tight enough and the table might collapse. Do so at your own risk.

Features

All parts are printed in PLA at a layer height of 0.2 mm. The entire design was made in Fusion. Any questions can always be asked.

If the blue pieces do not fit completely, use SuperGlue. If you scale the model, it may not fit well with the tolerances and might not work.
