Lightning Bonsai Tree - LED desk lamp
This is my unique take on the traditional bonsai: a dynamic, elemental tree where the trunk is a jagged strike of lightning and the canopy is a glowing storm cloud.
Whether you want a stunning standalone sculpture or a fully functional LED desk lamp, this model brings the storm straight to your desk!
Model Variations & Sizes
I have created multiple print profiles to fit exactly what you need.
- 2 Sizes Available: Mini and Standard
- Detail Options: Every size comes with a standard 0.2mm layer height profile, as well as a Variable Layer Height profile if you want maximum, smooth details on the cloud and trunk.
- 2 Hardware Versions included in every profile:
- LED Lamp Version: Custom-designed to fit the KC007 RGB LED perfectly.
- Standard Version: A solid version for a display piece without electronics.
Assembly
- No Tools or Glue Required: The model is designed to snap together easily.
- (Optional): If you plan to move the lamp around a lot or just want maximum stability, a drop of super glue on the connecting joints works perfectly.
⚠️ Important Printing & Handling Tips (Please Read!) ⚠️
- Difficulty Level: Hard. This is an advanced print, specifically the lightning trunk. I successfully printed the final version on an A1 Mini, P1S, and H2C, but it took about 10 failed attempts to perfect the settings!
- Clean Your Bed! A perfectly clean build plate is absolutely crucial. The lightning bolt has a small footprint, and especially if you are using translucent PLA, it simply will not stick and print correctly if the bed is not clean. Wash it thoroughly before printing! If you want to be extra safe, you can also use a build plate adhesive such as Bambu Liquid Glue.
- Speed Warning: Because of the extremely thin, branching sections of the lightning bolt, you must print the trunk very slowly. In my print profiles, I have reduced the printing speed to about 10% of the normal speed for these parts to ensure they don't snap or wobble. Please do not speed it up!
- Delicate Removal: When taking the lightning bolt off the build plate, be extremely gentle. Use a scraper to carefully lift it from the bottom so you don't snap the delicate branches. Take your time and be very careful when peeling away the brim as well!
- Filament Recommendations:
- If you are printing the Standard (Non-LED) version, I highly recommend using Glow-in-the-Dark PLA for the lightning and cloud. I printed my prototype this way and it looks insanely cool when the lights go out!
- For the LED version, use a translucent filament for the lightning and basic white filament for the cloud to diffuse the KC007 RGB lights beautifully.
