Description

This project started as a simple desire for a versatile vase test for my 3D printers. In collaboration with Gemini AI, I generated OpenSCAD code to create a unique twisted square vase. The design comes in two variations:

  • Normal Vase: A easy but beautiful test print to check aesthetics and printer calibration.
  • Adhesion Torture Test: Pushes bed adhesion to the limit, helping me dial in settings across different printers.

Features:

  • Customizable parameters in OpenSCAD for endless variation.
  • Two versions to test both print quality and adhesion.
  • Unique twist design provides a fun challenge.

Let me know if you find this useful or have other challenging adhesion test ideas!

How to Print

  • Slicing:
    • PrusaSlicer: In Print Settings, enable "Spiral Vase" mode.
    • Bambu Studio: Under the "Special" tab, turn on "Vase Mode."
  • Print and Test! Watch closely during the first few layers of the Adhesion Torture Test to ensure good bed adhesion.

Customizable Torture Test:

Want an even greater challenge? Increase the difficulty of the Adhesion Torture Test by making the base even narrower. In the OpenSCAD code, change the value on line 17 from 0.8 to a higher number (like 0.85 or 0.9). This will give your printer less surface area to stick to, truly testing its limits!

Disclaimer:

Please be aware that pushing your printer's bed adhesion to its limits can potentially cause damage, especially if your printer is not properly calibrated. Use this Adhesion Torture Test at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage that may occur to your printer or yourself :P!
