Description

Please consider casting your Boost token if this model/design helps you, and don't forget to press the like button. Many thanks!

Makerworld has significantly reduced the download/print points awarded to designers. Instead, they have introduced the "Boost" token, which you can apply to models that may not be the most popular (already gaining points from downloads and prints), but are useful or meaningful to you in general. This supports and encourages us, the "losers" (those not focusing on popular themes like Star Wars, car keychains, countless airless balls, etc.), to create more useful or niche designs.

Tube holders/racks are among the most common and abundant items in a laboratory environment. Reaction tubes come in different sizes and require specific holders. Here, I present racks/stands/holders to suit the most common applications in a biological laboratory in the format of Kit Cards. These designs feature materials friendly yet rigid and stable for assembly, easy printing & assembly, and have been tested in actual biomedical labs.

This page holds the model for an 8 x 12 PCR tube rack. It can comfortably fit an 8-tube strip and is compatible with multichannel pipettes (8 or 12 channels).

These models are published separately to:

1. Avoid clutter
2. Facilitate easy searching for the correct items
3. Allow convenient potential updates and troubleshooting.

After all, laboratory vessels come in different sizes and variations, so minor adjustments might be needed for individual cases. Just let me know in the comments, and I will try to resolve them.

Background:

PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction. It is a laboratory technique used to amplify a specific segment of DNA through a series of temperature cycles. PCR allows researchers to make millions of copies of a particular DNA sequence, even if it is initially present in very small amounts. This technique is widely used in various fields of biological research, including genetics, molecular biology, forensics, and medical diagnostics. PCR has revolutionized many aspects of biological and medical sciences by enabling the rapid and efficient amplification of DNA for analysis and study.

PCR tube strips are small plastic strips containing multiple individual PCR tubes, typically arranged in a linear or rectangular format. Each tube within the strip is designed to hold a small volume of reaction mixture for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) experiments. These tube strips are commonly made of polypropylene and come in various sizes, ranging from 0.2 mL to 0.5 mL per tube. PCR tube strips are often used in high-throughput PCR applications, allowing researchers to simultaneously run multiple reactions in a single strip. They are compatible with standard thermal cyclers and are designed to withstand the temperature cycling required for PCR amplification. PCR tube strips usually feature individual caps or attached caps to seal each tube, preventing contamination and evaporation during PCR amplification. They are widely used in molecular biology research, diagnostic testing, and genetic analysis.

Assembly:
Simply slot the support pillars into the panels. It should be easier than assembling IKEA furniture, and anyone smart enough to be in a lab should have no problem assembling them.
