Description

Summary

What is a Bowden Fixer?

The bowden tube and black cable leading from the extruder to the back of the UM2 is not tied to anything, therefore both cables are flexing freely whenever the printer is printing. Although this wouldn't normally cause problems to the printer, fixing these cables in place will eliminate any possibility, as well as making everything more tidy on the printer.

Design Considerations

The BFX01 is designed to be a single piece, therefore it's easy to print, install and looks elegant. It is designed to only be visible on the back of the printer, and does not affect the sides or front of the printer. Also there is no hinges, clamps or locking mechanism, means that the bowden tube and black cable can be easily mounted and removed.

How does it work?

The left screw hole screws into an existing screw that holds the printer's back panel and the top panel. The right screw sits on top of the back panel, it creates a tension between the BFX01 and the back panel to ensure the BFX01 stays in place. The last screw holds the bowden tube onto the BFX01, this makes it easy to take out the bowden tube at any moment without disassembling the BFX01.

Inspiration

There are several UM2 bowden fixers on youmagine that I have tried out but was too difficult to assemble, some come in several pieces which are pretty hard to attach. Therefore I designed from scratch with the idea to create the fixer as a single piece, and to find a nice area to mount it on the printer.

Post Makes

This helps me and the others to see if there are areas to improve on the design, as well as to show how it have helped your printer.
