Description

What is it?

This model is an upgraded chamber light to "assist" the wimpy one that comes with the Bambu X1/X1 Carbon and the P1S. Printed in grey ASA, gaskets in black TPU.

How to print it

Feel free to use the default settings specified for the material for your printer. If you experience any warping, some sanding or shaving will be required around the inner edge to make the glass fit inside.

I've printed everything in TPU with an previous version and was happy with it so that's always an option as well, never had TPU warp on me. It also helps with durability since layer adhesion at least with what I used was much better than PLA or ABS/ASA. Stuff is basically indestructible.

Installing the light strip

As far as attaching the light strips, I cut mine in 4 parts (beware they are not all the same length) and soldered them with small pieces of electrical wire, then hot glued each of the corners where the wires go around in case the adhesive back fails and to also to add some strain relief to the solder points. It can be difficult to solder to the strips, I have seen people successfully bend COB LED strips around the corners but I think cutting it has the cleanest look. I also put some black electrical tape around the solder points to keep it looking clean.

LED Strip I used from amazon HERE (I just chose the plain 1.5m 5000k without the RGB for the added brightness and ease of soldering but feel free to get what you prefer)

Why did I make it thicker?

When using the default presets for ABS or ASA on bambu printers, the speed it goes and the cooling it uses severely limits the layer adhesion. This is fine for little things here and there but with thin walls like in the original model I remixed, it has a habit of just snapping off. I'd rather not have to replace parts after gluing and soldering stuff into the printed model so I decided I needed to make it stronger.

Printed with PETG-CF came out ok, still trying to work out the best way to power the LEDs on an X1C

great upgrade, easy to print and fits perfectly. I just used some cheap LEDs, and connected them directly to the 5v USB in the printer. used some good double sided tape to hid the control box.

Great little riser that I placed on top of another vent riser with no issues.

This is the second time I have printed this and it has turned out beautifully every time! Try it in PLA-CF. Beautiful results!
