Description

Introducing the latest innovation in the "Flex Orb" series – the Wood-Themed Collection. With this new group, I'm taking the original, design of the Flex Orb and attempting to give it the warm, natural essence of wood through visual design and textures. They still have a long way to go but I think the “Driftwood” orb looks slightly convincing as wood. Spalted Maple is one of my favorate woods and the designs turned out well but they are too plasticy. I had high hopes for the “Redwood” orb but it turned out to be not a convincing wood texture. My daughter says it looks like lava (which it does) and that may be a better name for it.

Customization: Unlike the original Flex Orbs, I don't think these are going to allow you to successfully change the original colors and end up with something that looks better than the original (but you may prove me wrong).

Easy Printing & Assembly: These are all multicolored and can be printed using the AMS or manually pausing the print to change colors. Designed with the enthusiast in mind, the Flex Orb is straightforward to print, requiring only three flat strips that effortlessly come together to form a captivating orb approximately 8 cm in diameter. The assembly process is a hands-on experience that is both intuitive and rewarding. By looping and hooking each strip into a cylinder and then weaving them together, you create a structure that's both intricate and robust. Here's a video instruction to guide you through folding in the arcs to achieve the perfect form.

I'd said to not use different colors with these but I tried black/brown/yellow with the Driftwood orb and it turned out pretty good.
