Support me a little for $3/month. Thought I'd try this out.
Pickleball!! I had to combine my pickleball and 3D printing hobby.
V2 - (2024_03_07)
Much better supports, easier to clean up. A little thicker, more durable. Redid holes to match my real indoor pickleball.
V1 - (2024_03_06)
A bit of cleanup for the supports required, but once cleared works great - need to work on a custom support.
Printed in PLA and it bounces a little too much. With TPU 95, might be perfect.
USAPA reqs:
- Possess a diameter that is between 2.874 inches (7.30cm) to 2.972 inches (7.55cm) GOOD
- Possess a circumference that is between 9.029 inches (22.93cm) and 9.337 inches (23.72cm) GOOD
- Be uniformly colored GOOD (depends on filament)
- Have between 26 to 40 holes GOODish (minus all the ‘Airless holes’)
- Register between 40 and 50 on the Durometer D scale of hardness when tested at an ambient temperature of 70°F (plus or minus 5°F) ??? (PLA probably much too hard)
- Exhibit a bounce between 30-34 inches (76.20cm - 86.36cm) when dropped from a height of 78 inches (198.12cm) at an ambient temperature of 70°F (plus or minus 5°F) PLA - a little over 40 inches
- weigh between 0.78oz (22.11g) and 0.935oz (26.51g) GOOD
Trying out a design for PLA to get in the right bounce range (stay in correct weight), and will be trying a TPU with current design.
