I find that there is lots of filament stringy pieces and dust build up in my machine after a short period of time and some of the crevices are hard to clean out, especially the holes in the bottom of the case where the linear bearing rails are attached.
I have designed these covers to fit snugly around the linear rail and push down into the holes to prevent this. They also serve to neaten up the interior of the case.
PLEASE READ THE WARNING BELOW NOW!
WARNING!! The linear bearings protrude from below the heated bed by ~18mm. These holes may be there to allow the bearings to go into them when printing to the maximum z-height. IF YOU PRINT AT MAXIMUM HEIGHT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE BEARINGS WILL HIT YOUR COVERS BEFORE REACHING MAX HEIGHT. If you are needing to print to the maximum height, please remove the covers BEFORE doing so. I take no responsibility if you don't heed this warning and cause your print to fail (likely) or damage your machine (unlikely, however, there still needs to be a warning). YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Now that's cleared up, you'll need to print two (2) of these and they will need to be in TPU, so you can flex them open to fit around the rail. The knurled top sits slightly proud of the case so that you can remove them easily if required. I have a P1P but these should also work in an X1C.
I have had good success printing TPU using the standard PLA settings with the following changes:
Feel free to use your own TPU settings if you prefer.
I hope that these work for you. Enjoy :)
