Description

 64mm EDF FPV Canopy (Based on Monkey Brains Design)

 Project Overview

This project is a custom FPV canopy designed for 64mm EDF jet aircraft, created as a derivative work based on Monkey Brains’ “Dassault Rafale RC Jet – 64mm EDF” model.

The goal of this design is to integrate FPV equipment while preserving the original aircraft’s shape, proportions, and center of gravity, allowing practical FPV flight without external mounting or major airframe modification.

The canopy is designed to house an EWRF TS5823 5.8GHz FPV VTX + CMOS camera combo, with optimized internal space for wiring, ventilation, and antenna routing.
An 18 × 18 mm aluminum heatsink is required to both secure the VTX module in place and assist with heat dissipation during operation.

 Printing & Fabrication Recommendations

3D-Printed Canopy Frame:

  • Infill: 5–10%
  • Supports: Tree supports recommended
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm
  • Material: PLA or PETG 

Transparent Canopy Cover:

  • Designed for vacuum forming
  • Use the original Monkey Brains canopy or this printed canopy as the forming mold
  • Recommended material: PET / PETG transparent sheets

 Notes

  • This model includes FPV canopy components only; the full aircraft is not included
  • Ensure proper contact between the VTX and heatsink for effective cooling
  • Always recheck center of gravity after FPV installation
  • Perform ground testing before flight
  • Follow all local UAV and FPV regulations
