Description

The charging cable always breaks at the same position, just right under the plug. You don't need to replace it, fix it with this easy print! This works for Apple USBC and lightning, as well as for samsung charging cables!

No glue or tape is needed.

Changes V2:

  • added the .ipt inventor files for editing

How to repair the cable:

1) Carefully cut off the straggly ends of the broken cable, this will help to fit the Cable repair better.

2) Download the .3mf / .gcode file and print it. Suggested settings are listed above.

3) Make sure the guide rails are printed well. This will help to assemble it more easily.

4) Put the two parts together.

5) Enjoy your repaired cable!

 

Tipp: If there is too much friction add some lubricant or Vaseline to the guide rails. This will help. Make sure the parts are printed well, maybe work on the edges if needed.

 

Printer Information

I printed this with my Elegoo Neptune 4 with 0.12mm layer height (fine).

No supports needed.

Nice and simple design! Really good tolerances. My cable had a bigger damaged, and so had to extend the tail. Printed in PLA+

Other Issues:maybe it needs to be printed a few percentage bigger than the original, as my print was to small and broke appart

thanks for your feedback! I had the same issue once. I fixed it by printing Pla with a slightly increased temperature. if you have problems when assembling the two pieces, try to put the two pieces together on the thinner part of the cable and then move it up to the plug/ head of the charging cable. this worked for me. Sometimes it is difficult to assemble the two parts because apple tend to have different versions of charging cables where the dimensions are a bit different. have a look hat the description for my measurements if you like. thanks for your print profile, this might help other people!

Thank you very much for your answer :-) Yes, maybe they have slightly different sizes. The bigger Version worked out great. I will probably test a flexible one later on :-) Anyway, many thanks for this great model!

Extra long_0.08mm layer, 2 walls, 15% infill
Dont think it’s meant for this plug but still covers the broken area.

Ich glaube, sie kaufen sich ein neues Kabel. Das bestehende sieht bereits sehr abgenutzt und beschädigt aus. Zudem sieht ihr Druck so aus, als wäre ihr Filament nicht korrekt kalibriert.
