Description

This model is a Fidget Toy based on the principle of a Planetary Gearbox.

Model Data:

  • Gear Module: 1.25mm
  • Helical Angle: 45°
  • Pressure Angle: 14.5°
  • Total Gear Height: 20mm
  • Number of teeth Ring Gear: 51
  • Number of teeth Planet Gear: 18

If you want to print this model with your own print profile instead, here are the most important settings to save time:

  • 3 walls for the Gears
  • [0.55mm/0.65mm] [inner/outer] wall width for the planet gears
  • [0.5mm/0.65mm] [inner/outer] wall width for the ring gear

You need to do this, because the slicer will otherwise place a lot of internal solid infill, which would take even more tome to print.

  • 2 walls for "Base" and “Base Top”
  • Concentric Top/Bottom for the Gears
  • Monotonic Top/Bottom for “Base” and "Base Top"

Although “Archemedean Chords” infill saves a lot of time, I dont reccomend using it, because it makes the gears way less stable.

Asselmbly:

  1. Remove the pieces from the build Plate
  2. Put the Planet Gears inside the Ring Gear and space them approx. 120° from another. Be careful to orient them identically.
  3. Push in the Base/Planet Carrier from the top. Everithing should align itself.
  4. You can just pick up the whole Assembly and flip it around.
  5. Push the last part into the recesses. Depending on your Printers tolerances you may need to use a bit of glue or rotate it until it fits.

nice, but too much clearance with the default settings, could've been much more snug for much nicer workings.

The quality is great, but as a fidgit toy it is underwhelming for me. it is hard to turn the gears and does not spin at all.

So cool. Printed great, even when scaling down a bit.
