Description

Recommend printing in clear PLA so the LED's will shine through , used 5mm ( 3/16" ) steel rods for recinforcement , and the switch to turn lights on / off is built INTO the hilt with magents ( magnets are the contacts )

This is a big sword, 53" long and used 1.3Kg of filament. All pieces printed perfectly, and the supports came off easily. Purchased three 3/16" by 36" steel rods for internal support. The picture with the three yellow lines indicates the rods internal positioning. I dry fit all the pieces which allowed for determining the length of each rod. The rods were a tight fit into the printed holes so I enlarged with a 7/32" drill bit. I used JB Weld to glue all pieces together, even coating the rods.

Not entirely sure if this is just me somehow, but looks like a bit of the curled horns is appearing at the bottom of the base of the sword's file as well? After printing the curled horn part (I honestly don't know too much about sword parts lol) I noticed that the base of the horn had a bit of a flat part. Not super noticeable, but something I think that could be fixed in the files

those 2 extra little dots that print with it ( in the picture ) are the parts you glue on to fix the flat part! :D

Didn't even think that would have been an intentional decision, but actually pretty smart. Thanks, I'll get those out of the trash can I guess lol

hahaha it was a bit of a lazy design decisino but nonethe less lets the horn print super clean without supports literally holding it up

Do you not have the connectors on the side of this component

You will have to download them seperately ( use the download .stl button on makerworld ) , for some reason they wont allow me to add plates with them on

It looks like the side pommels are missing from the 3mf, would it be possible to get the plate for the side pommels?

How did you make the eyes in the hilt?

Those are just painted. , you'd have to add channels for a LED strip if you wante them to glow!

Still printing: But I noticed an issue with the 3mf file posted and it might explain the missing pieces in it. When I try cutting or modifying a few of the pieces, they suddenly error out with "no layers detected". I've cut them all and put them into a new 3mf file (well, 3 for now) and all seem to appear and work properly. You might have to rebuild your 3mf from scratch to fix the errors with it. Otherwise, Amazing model and everything that is in it has printed excellently. I've done a lot of extra cutting for using AMS/multi colour printing and gluing parts back together. I'm about 1/2 done and I cannot wait until it's complete! (once it's done I will do my best to clean up my 3mf file and add it to the profile.

This is what I use for steel rods: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/steelworks-weldable-steel-rod-for-increased-strength-assorted-sizes-0616100p.0616103.html As for LED's , you can use any standard width 9V LED strip :D
