If you liked version 1, I think you'd like version 2 too! (its not better, it's just different)

~~~~
This design came from wanting a compact desk lamp that felt cozy and small. The lamp stands approximately 150mm high and 75mm wide, making it suitable for not just your desk, but any shelf, or bedside table without taking up much space. This lamp is designed to work with the Ikea STRÅLA cord set.
The form is defined by a sine wave swirl that runs from top to bottom. It starts as an external wave at the top, and turns into a subtle shadow through the base when the lamp is on:
Shining a light through the base shows the internal swirl infill which lines up perfectly with the top
It comes in three parts (on two print beds):
  • The top - vase mode print with a beautiful sine wave pattern
  • The base - bottom part that holds the Ikea Strala lamp cord
  • Clip - this clips the cable to the bottom of the vase
I've prioritised  print quality for this one, so the print can take upwards of 9 hours total to print, but its totally worth the wait.
To assemble:
  1. Slot the ikea STRÅLA lamp cord set into the base, the tolerance is tight so you may need to screw it into the base.
  2. Use the clip to clip the cord to the base (this one's optional, but keeps the cord secured, see gif below)
  3. The top assembly has a simple press-and-turn fitting to secure it to the base, line up the top and bottom and twist 90 degrees to secure.
This project took a fair amount of iteration and prototyping, particularly around the base to get the proportions and shadows right. Your boost is greatly appreciated :)
