Description

Sliced and painted version of the free model. The 3mf contains all the required negative geometry to reinforced it with steel rods.

The pommel is the only real multicolor print. The handle has one color change built into the 3mf at a specifc layer.. So, if you change the layer height, ensure you confirm the filament swap location is correct.

Requires:

  1. Two 3ft long pieces of 1/8" steel rod
  2. One 7-¾" long piece of 3/8" steel rod

Found the rods at my local hardware store. Wooden dowels would likely work fine as well.

For the assembly I friction fit everything and then added a drop of glue between each section afterwards. I found to get all of the pieces on the rods more easily, use a drill. I put the end of one rod in the drill chuck and had the rod spinning while I slid each section into place. Then I did the same with the second rod, pushing it through all the pieces in line.

I designed the wall mount and it can be found here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/211361

Still printing the Pommel, but love the overall look. I have some clean up on bottom of Handle, but that due to the support coming off not so clean. I really liked how it turned out. As for the wood dowel, either the dowels I got absorbed some moisture and swelled, but I definitely couldn't use the 1/8" x 3' Wood dowels. Now the 3/8" wood dowel worked great. Other possibility was my X1C printer didn't give the full 1/8" hole, as even with the steel rod it was very tight and hard to slide through as well. Great job on the design.
