Description

This a remix of the ‘Vegetable Can Dispenser w/ Labels’ by cbaileyhp here on Maker World. I loved the model and design but it unfortunately did not fit on our existing shelves, so I remixed it to be shorter and remove some of the vertical space within the handles to fit our needs. It holds fifteen canned goods in the size of 14.5-15oz (approximate can measurement 75mm x 112mm) superbly well. Also has labels that can be swapped out as desired if your need for the organizer changes. cbaileyhp has continued to make new labels and the ones made for the original model will also work in this model. The fully assembled model is approximately 12.5 inches (317mm) tall by 15.75 inches (400mm) deep.

Examples of what we will be storing is diced tomatoes, corn, green beans, tomato sauce, refried beans, other various beans. We typically purchase from Costco in 8 and 12 packs. This model allows us to restock before being empty and ensures we are always using the oldest cans first as it works in a ‘first in first out’ (FIFO) method which is incredibly handy.

Personally, we opted for printing it in PLA+ and it has been holding up well. The connecting joints are tight, secure and sturdy. Additional clips and fasteners are provided on a separate plate for additional reinforcement. Additionally, stability can also be added using M3x10 screws for pre threaded holes (link in ‘Finishing Information’ to Amazon).

Additional printing and finishing information below are as provided by cbaileyhp at time of this posting on the original model and accurate for this model as well.

Printing Information

-Round fasteners slide over center round support to provide additional stability (on fastener plate)

-Clip fasteners clip the side components together (on fastener plate)

-Textured plate gives a nice, finished look (optional)

-Can be printed in any color to match your decor

Finishing Information

-Gave it stability using 13 M3x10 screws (pre-threaded but a small round file on the hole opening can help start the screws)

-I used these: Amazon.com: 440 Pcs M3 Small Metric Screws with Nuts, Hex Socket Head Cap and Nut Assortment Kits, Alloy Steel Replacement Machine Fastener Screws and Bolts Nuts (Black) : Industrial & Scientific

-Recommend using a touch of super glue on each of the round fasteners and where it joins together are the very top, but neither are necessary

-Glue is not used on the clip fasteners, but can be if you wish

Thank you cbaileyhp for a great design and allowing others to adjust to their needs. Happy printing all!!

nice design. like the lower profile. careful with the pegs when test fitting they go in but don't like to come out. if I were to change I'd change the M3 screws to an M4 or 5 just to have a more commonly available screw from my local shops.

is there any way you can make whole in four parts by setting each on its side i have the x1c i know i can move more parts on one plate if i have a pc. this print looks awesome though i like it better in color though I'm planning on printing 12 or more

You could try to print assembled, but it would require a LOT of support so don't believe it would be worth it. The print time would also increase dramatically. I would not recommend it and think it would be a disservice to others to create a print profile that way. I personally printed many of these as well so recognize what you're trying to solve for. I did select the ones that take longer to print, to run while sleeping and quicker ones while I was around. Hope that helps. Happy printing!

you talk about using screws to hold this together but it doesn’t show where they go in any of the pictures.

One screw in each spot you see a round hole in the side of the model. They screw into the print piece that connects.

Absolutely! I did the same thing. :-) Makes shopping list easy too! Just peak to see how low it is. If low, buy more. :-) Glad you enjoy it!

The clips need a better design. They don’t actually “lock” into place or just don’t do anything to help. I also wish the cans didn’t just drop at the two ends to the next level down because it adds stress over time to the whole thing. really wish the guides it rolls on curves and allows the can to roll along it somehow down to the next level instead of just crashing down and potentially also jamming as I have experienced a couple times. its not all bad though. this is otherwise an awesome model!

I wonder if maybe instead of clips, a slot could be used to pass a zip tie through. just brainstorming.
