After finding inspiration in the innovative design of Wilson's Airless Basketball, I aimed to take the idea a step further. I decided to embark on the challenge of creating a functional prototype of an Airless Soccer Ball, specifically designed for 3D printing. My goal was to develop a model that not only replicated the essence of the original design but also offered significant improvements in terms of durability and performance.

 

Incorporating the design principles of the NBA Airless Basketball, I immersed myself in the modeling process to adapt them to the context of Soccer. The result was an innovative prototype that challenges the traditional conventions of soccer balls, eliminating the need for inflation and providing a more consistent and reliable gaming experience.

Authentic Details: All characteristic elements of a soccer ball have been integrated, including hexagonal and pentagonal panels, as well as stitching details, to achieve an authentic and recognizable appearance.

 

Uniform Surface: The model's surface has been precisely designed to ensure high-quality 3D printing and a smooth finish, without imperfections or deformities, contributing to an optimal gaming experience.

 

3D Printing Optimized Design: The ball's design has been optimized for 3D printing, minimizing support areas and overhangs, facilitating the printing process, and reducing the need for post-processing.

Some people just submit whatever they want to the contests, expecting to get disqualified, but easily gets 100x more eyes on it. It's cheating is what it is. If something 'barely' doesn't qualify as a kitcard, ok, disqualified. If something OBVIOUSLY isn't a kitcard, it should honestly be a month-long ban or something; They're just schmoozing points for giftcards with unsavory methods. Reporting them yields results. Just saying. 👍

Oh sorry, the system let me compete with this model and I thought that meant it qualified. I also saw that others have uploaded other random files to the contest and no one comments on them. Thanks for letting me know, now I will be more aware of this.

Recently someone from the Overture Brand printed the V2 model of the Airless NBA and it has been the best rebound result I have seen so far. With Super PLA + from Overture. PLA FLex 0.2mm layer, 2 walls, 15% infill
Printed in Sunlu Silk TPU which is a bit harder. Worked great, bounched for a while, I could kick it etc. Went wrong when we stepped on it. Now it makes a great hat.
