Description

I liked the look of HSW, but I've never been a big fan of mounting things on anything that can “slip out” (i.e. anything inserted). So after some more looking I found Thread Board ( https://www.printables.com/model/499287-threaded-board ) and instantly fell for the gorgeous screws holding things in place. But as I got ready to print I realized HSW needs A LOT LESS material to print - plus I still liked how it looks better. What to do..?

Well, remix both of course! So after some tinkering with both I made a set of THREADED inserts for HSW that match those of ThreadBoard. So the screws from there will work here (as well as all existing HSW things). But also anything that requires to be screwed in (such as the awesome creations from https://www.printables.com/model/511495-bolt-on-another-peg-with-threads-and-bolts-but-fre which use a bigger hole and thus work perfectly!).

To mount this on the wall I needed countersunk inserts, but why waste a perfectly threadable (?) hole - so I made those as well.

(yes I know my HSW is sideways, that's by design)

May I ask: do you know what standard these bolts are (are they standard)? I love the idea, but if I'm to do bolts, I'd rather use a standard one, that I can even design for eg in fusion 360 :) Edit: mate, I've printed some bolts from the linked "bolt on!" page, and yours. They don't fit together. X1C, PLA, flow calibrated. The threads are visibly different. The idea is neat, but...

I'm not too familiar with TinkerCad but the only thread they have is called "ISO Metric thread" and this one is 9mm in diameter so I guess it's an M9? As I mentioned in the description the things in the "Bolt On" project use a bigger hole so they can be screwed on nicely with these screws. I.e. you have the "thread board"-like inserts and a screw that matches perfectly. You take a thing with a slightly bigger hole and can use your screw to attach it to the board. If you look at the last picture there you can see one of the "Bolt On" containers attached.
