Simple carry along pill organizer with a weather resistant TPU seal built into the lid. Pocketable and strong. Stays closed and can take vigorous shaking. Fits into luggage and backpacks easily. Similar size to common battery packs. All cavities have a scooped bottom for easier removal of pills by finger.
Tested by running under a running bathtub faucet. Do NOT submerge. This should only be considered for splashes of water/rain and dirt.
Printing
Printing is fairly straight forward:
The inner sleeve/organizer part is printed on it's side due to the oval shape and text. No supports are necessary for the interior but there is some bridging that slower print speeds may help with.
All outer sleeve are a very easy print without any special consideration
The TPU seal needs to be print with the wide top against the plate with a small amount of supports for the outer bridging. There will be stringing due to the nature of TPU. But those areas can either be cleaned up with a hair dryer or ignored since they will covered during assembly.
The lid prints with the flat top against the plate.
Print came out fairly well on my P1S. Printed both TPU pieces and even the "looser" one is pretty snug. Also as seen in the second picture, for some reason orange end piece printed not perfectly, but the TPU piece covers it anyway.
No issues printing but using 95A TPU the seal between the TPU and the outer sleeve is too tight. In short when fully closed it takes a tool to pry the inner sleeve out. That said I tried reducing the TPU's infill, as well as using an infill pattern that in theory should permit more flex.
Are you using a more flexible TPU material?
That’s unfortunate. Probably some variations amongst manufacturers. I tested with both Duramic 95a Tpu and Overture 95a Tpu. I purposely oversized the ridges so that they would bend and seal when shut. I could provide a looser version. It would still hold tight but loses the ability to keep out water in my tests.
I have read that TPU makes a poor gasket, though I assumed this was due to surface imperfections. Perhaps if you take another run at this at some point using a nitrile o-ring (or two) could be a solution that seals with less force on the material.
Note, I used eSun 95A TPU.
It’s definitely possible. I was pretty happy with how it turned out and was thinking about making other versions for general storage. Like wider ones or ones with larger holes. The trouble is how well it will print. There is an overhang that bridges fine due to the short distance. Larger holes makes that bridging worse. I have some ideas but will have to test them out.
Overall a nice design, but as commented when using Inland TPU 95A the seal was too rigid such that removing the inner drawer required a tool. The author provided a relaxed TPU seal design, but I haven't had time to test with an updated print.
