Description

👉VIDEO: youtu.be/vLtHhiWziIk

I wanted to limit the light spill and designed

  • a frame that can be mounted to the ¼" mounts
  • plus grid inserts with different depths!

Printing the frame

No supports needed.

Use black filament!

Tip 1: Print on raft! Long, thin, straight parts can be tricky in regards to 1st layer adhesion.

Tip 2: Disable aux fan (set to 0% in filament settings)

Keylight mounted horizontally:

  • Print the HORIZ plate 2 times and glue the 2 pieces together to make the frame

Keylight mounted vertically:

  • Print the 2 VERT plates and glue the 3 pieces together to make the frame

Printing the grid

Grid Depth vs Light emission angle:

  • 30mm    ~85°
  • 35mm    ~75°
  • 40mm    ~68°
  • 45mm    ~62°
  • 50mm    ~57°
  • 55mm    ~52°
  • 60mm    ~48°

Print the desired grid plate 2 times

Note: For other/larger 3D printers: Use the files from the “All Parts” directory that fit your printer

Mounting

  • Mount the frame to the Elgato Keylight using two short ¼" screws
  • Put the 2 grid pieces inside and tighten the screws
    • Grids are held in place by tension and can easily be swapped
    • For a permanent solution you could also glue everything together
