Description

I needed a subject to test making a light box from start to finish and try out some of the things I thought would be handy in a light box - strain relief stanchions with slots for zip ties and holes located at likely places people would want to run the USB or other cable. It also includes plugs for those holes and a slotted plug for whichever one is used for the wire. This print also includes a white diffuser printed on the image to give some extra strength to the image since there are smaller bits only held in place by the edge welding during printing. I also added a “reflector” to the back that is just another two layers of white filament but now there's no need to glue tinfoil in or use aluminum tape. Much cleaner. Last is this box has the back with the walls instead of the image front. Makes it easier to install lights since the box back is complete then you just snap on the image front.

On my printer all the plugs snap in semi-tight. A drop of superglue would make them permanent but on mine the press fit is tight enough. The front/image seems a good tight but not too tight fit. I’ve been securing lightbox fronts/backs with silicone seal and just let any excess squish out and cure without touching it. Then the beads just pull off leaving an invisible seam that is very hard to reopen once it cures. This print doesn’t seem to need that. The push fit is plenty but YMMV.
