! Please take bed adhesion very seriously when printing these little helpers, use 3DLAC OR GLUE STICK if necessary, BUT not BRIM, if you want a nice Logo quality! In my printprofile the color sequence is set so that the logo color is printed first in order to get very nice, sharp contours. When BRIM is switched on, Brim will also be printed in LOGO color and unsightly marks will be left on the edges !

If you are unsure about bed adhesion - please use the “Mice Ears” print profile! 👌

Version 3.1 with very popular “ARROWS Logo” (You asked - I created it! )😍👍

Why this Version 3.1?

Recently there have been increasing reports that the new AMS, which will be delivered to customers after October 2023, have larger feeder-funnels. And there has also been a particularly large number of reports since the beginning of 2024. That's why I have now created the new version of my AMS Protector.

Does my AMS need version 3.1 or 3.0?

If your AMS was delivered to you by Bambu Lab before October 2023, then just print version 3.0.

If your AMS was delivered to you by Bambu Lab after October 2023, then I would simply measure the AMS Feeder Funel - see the pictures below.

⚠️If the funnel diameter is about 14.3mm, then you should print version 3.0, if it is about 14.5mm, then print version 3.1👌

If the funnel diameter is about 14.3mm - then you should print version 3.0
If the funnel diameter is about 14.5mm then print version 3.1

Bambu Lab X1 AMS Feeder Button Cover/Protector - what is that good for?

I have read some reports that the abrasive filaments "grind" the feeders from AMS (which are from soft plastic too) very quickly! And this problem may affect the loading and unloading filaments !

I found an interesting feeder cap at Printables (thank you, Maverick Ng, for sharing your model!) and reconstructed it so that the cap sits very stable on the feeder and can still be easily pulled on and removed. Look at Installation-Video on my Instagram Channel - its very easy! :-)

 

For version 2.0 I achieved the best results with the PTFE length of 18mm. I used a replacement PTFE tube that came with my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon.

 

Please read the print instructions carefully! They are important so that the small parts can be printed correctly and then sit and hold well on the feeder!

Print / Install Instructions:

  • place them with the logo on the build plate
  • first layer line width: 0,36 (0.4 mm Nozzle)
  • first layer speed: 10ms per second (for perfect look of the button-surface)
  • 2 perimeter, 4 top/bottom layer, 20% infill
  • take better PLA/ASA - they are stiffer, for better hold on the feeder
  • print layer height: 0.16mm and WALL generator: Classic (in this case please no Arachne) !!!
  • It is helpful to swith your Bambulab Printer from “Standard” Speed to “Quiet”!

Cool recomendation from User SHAYDED (Thank you! :-): “If you are struggling with sagging, move the parts closer to the aux fan, orient the overhang towards it, and crank it up to 70-100%”. I had no problems with sagging (just printed 4-5 of them at once and slow), but why not? :-)

Problemloser Druck. PLA auf Strukturierter PEI Platte ohne irgendwelche Klebstoffe. Bei der Passung /Montage bin ich noch unsicher, ob das so passt. Ich habe das neue AMS (erst diese Woche geliefert) und entsprechend V3.1 gedruckt. Beim Anbringen passen die Aufsätze eigentlich gut und sitzen auch fest. Sobald man aber Filament einführt, lassen sich die Aufsätze seitlich kippen. Funktionieren tut es soweit, aber etwas unsicher bin ich dennoch...

Hi! Da sollte eigentlich nichts kippen... Könntest Du mir bitte per Direct Message ein paar Bilder von den installierten Protectoren (wo und wie sie seitlich kippen) schicken? Würde mir helfen evtl. einen Update/Änderung zu machen oder Dir zu helfen, falls die doch nicht richtig installiert sind. Dankeschön im Voraus! :-) Ed

Obwohl ich mein AMS samt P1S erst am 10.4.2024 geliefert bekommen habe, scheine ich doch noch v3.0 zu benötigen. Jedenfalls haben meine Trichter einen Durchmesser von 14,29mm. Also besser mal vorher messen ...

I had a lot of trouble getting these to print. I didn't want to use the mice ears, but no matter what I tried the bed adhesion would fail about two thirds of the way through the print. textured PEI plate, scrupulously clean, recommended print settings and my normal high quality ones, no go. other tiny parts print fine, I suspect there is just too much height and leverage for the footprint on the bed. I ended up remixing the STl to remove the relief happy face and fill in the eyes, flipped them top side down, and they printed fine. thanks for the design though, they fit great and work well.

Thank you Scott! Hmm.. Bed adhesion is really important for this small design, very seldom (I’m happy, that is really seldom!) I read such feedback… And this 3.0/3.1 version is not so critical to bed adhesion like 2.0/2.1… I think, this is often just the combination of filament and plate… What always helped for me - wash your plate with dish soap, washing sponge and warm water properly. This helped better as 99% Isopropyl. Thank you and happy printing! 🙏😍👍 Ed

it was the Bambu textured PEI plate and their PLA basic. 0.16 high quality profile, 0.4mm stock nozzle. washed the plate, tried it like that and also after cleaning with 100% IPA. the best I could get was about half way up the recess for the feeding funnel itself before they all tore off the bod. I probably should have tried the mice ears version. NVM, they are installed now and working really well, so thanks again for the time put into the design.

I had a hard time printing these. they definitely required glue on the plate. however they did not fit they were much too tight. contacted Ed and he replied very quick with suggestions. I tried upscaling to 102% but they were a little too big. again they printed nicely. I ended up clearancing the inside of the original print and got them to fit.
