Description

Raspberry Pi 5 case with screws and heat inserts and maybe optional multicolor logo.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Raspberry Pi 5 case with screws and heat inserts and maybe optional multicolor logo.

In order to use it you need 4 M2.5 heat inserts(I used the CNC Kitchen ones) and 4 M2.5x8mm flat head screws.

This design differs from the original as following:

  • the raspberry pi is fixed by both bottom part and top part, this is very important while moving the part, the original one was only using the tight fit of the case which would have definitely damaged the micro SD card when transported
  • more space to the micro SD
  • it's using heat inserts and screws, I got really tired of getting the perfect printer profile to get a good snap fit that resists with multiple open/close operations
  • I recreated it from scratch in FreeCAD using some STEP exports from the original model(I do own an EDU license of Fusion 360 but it requires too much resources and it's slow on my end-and I also wanted to learn FreeCAD).
  • it has a raspberry pi logo
  • it has legends for type of USBs and LAN
  • doesn't rely on snap fit
  • top and bottom walls are 3mm thick instead of the old 1.5mm

Edit:

  • 25.02.2024
    • edit the differences to include details about micro SD card
  • 02.03.2024
    • added a version of the top that has no logo and no text so people can rotate the logo and choose to not print the text
    • added a version of the top with mirrored logo

Looks great, fitting good. (that the berry has another direction than the text triggers :D )

Hey! Thank you for the review! Sorry about that! I didn't know it has a particular position, I mostly tried to maximize the logo and that was the only way to achieve it. I will post another version with the logo in the opposite direction :)) and one without the logo.

I added a version without the text and the logo until I have more time to make the version with the opposite direction logo. You can rotate the logo in the slicer if you want to edit its position.

I added a version with the logo pointing to the text direction. I added only the files in both STL and STEP since I don't think I'll print another one. Added a ready to use .3mf file in the 3MFS folder. Let me know if you print that and maybe add a print profile for it with your images :D

Really enjoyed this model! Everything fits nicely and snug. I did in fact print it in one color, and of course therefore the raspberry icon is sort of missing. So for everyone wanting to print it in one colour, everything fine! Thank you for sharing this great model! Has everything I was looking for right now!

I am so glad you like it! I put a lot of time and lots of failed prints into building it! I am happy someone likes it as I do! Unfortunately, the photos are not loading! Edit: I think it's a problem with how Maker World understands image formats, seems like DNG format is not recognized. I downloaded the images and viewed using Eye of gnome and I must say it looks awesome! Is that PETG?
