Description

Note: This design only changes the stock magentic dock adapter with the Panda Touch, no changes to the Bambu lab printer parts

 

*** Update to the full surround mount, I have included a small hole to allow access to the buckle on the stock screen to help remove in the future if needed, should be able to fit a small stock allen key. I have also add an additional full surround mount for those of you who have an AMS riser so it does not overhang the top of the printer. Both based on the request and testing by rembomy thanks for the help on this ***

 

Completly updated my v1.0 mount thanks to Martin Löwe for pointing me in the direction of the step file on BTT github. This version creates a new magnetic dock so you don't use the one that came with the screen just some of the components of it.

 

The parts you need to remove and transfer from the stock dock are:

  • Charging circuit board + its 4 retaining screws

Then you will need the following:

  • 5 x 8mm x 2mm magnets (I only have 3 remaining from some other jobs hence two missing in my picture)
  • 2 x M3 x 12mm bolts for attaching the enclosure to the adaptor.

Then to create the dock you (for images follow along on the images in the profile):

  1. Remove the circuit board from the original dock (4 x screws)
  2. Replace the circuit board into the new dock using the 4 original screws (they cut thread into the printed part)
  3. Glue the alignment pegs into the two shallow holes (this allows the part to print flat and minimise supports)
  4. Check the polarity of the magnets on your screen and glue these into the 5 tight fitting holes so they will attract the screen

I have made cable channels for either side of the screen and checked it doesn't hit any of the original screens buttons but any issues please shout so I can improve it for everyone. This also is no longer tight with the stock cable that comes with the Panda touch.

Very happy with this model. Used in combination with johnstylez's "xTouch spacer for P1P and P1S" to hide the wiring and tidy everything up for my Panda Touch.

It's really nice. I had to file down the USB C to get it under 5mm thick and then take remove the screws in the board behind the screen (just to loosen it to get a little wiggle room to fit the cable through).

realy nice design! much more practicable than the original, by folding you can easily reach the mode switcher on the back and don't have to unplug it and turn around every time. thank you for sharing! I only wish the cable route could take the same way like the cable of the original display, but then there must be some way for passing...perhaps another adapter behind the display? printed with Sunluu recycled PLA black

if you want to stay “stock” or easily reversible I have seen people with an extender that brings the stock screen out a bit which would allow for a cable to be routed cleaner but not searched for the model yet. else there is another design like mine that doesn’t fold but disassembles the stock screen and creates a new mount

Great idea! Of course I looked for it straight away and printed this Model: https://makerworld.com/models/118445 Now it's a much cleaner look. But now your model is no longer pressed against the printer by the display and is wobbly. I fixed it with a bit of foam... Of course, it would be perfect if your model had this attachment like the original display and was attached directly to the printer and then the P1S display was attached to it. I think I need to start learning how to edit or create models myself. Thanks anyway!

Printed, it adapts very well to the original display and is perfect connected to the panda touch. The problem is that one of the side hinge joints broke. I'll try to reprint this evening, I might have done something wrong during assembly.

yeah I looked at this on my printer today and thought I can beef up the hinges as there is space so might update that. they will always be a little weak due to the layers but can add some more mass there.

Does the job well, thanks! Had a small issue with the alignment pegs being a tad too big, have resized and uploaded a profile that works well in this regard.

Printed V1 first but was not really happy with it. V2 works perfect. I have made a slight adaption in Bambu Studio to support 10x1 magnets that I had laying around. This also causes the display to be removed easier from the base plate. I therefore do not have the feeling any more to rip if my default display when I want to take of the panda touch.

Model itself is very well tuned. Would love a version with BLV AMS riser support tho.
