Description

A UFO spaceship lamp that provides light via it's tractor beam. This UFO has a sleek aethetic and is a great addition for anyone's desk/night stand!

The saucer is printed in 2 parts ('Saucer-Top Half', ‘Saucer-Bottom Half’), which snap together using the pegs ('Peg' x2). Superglue can be used for added strength if necessary.

The ‘Light Beam Diffuser’ and ‘Top Light Diffuser’ screw into the top and bottom of the assembled saucer using the 3D printed threads on the objects.

The ‘Light Mounting Pole’ screws into the ‘Base’. An RGB-LED strip can be wrapped cut to length and then wrapped around the mounting pole.

I used hot glue to secure the ‘Base’ to the bottom of the ‘Light Beam Diffuser’, but any glue will work. There is a slot at bottom of the ‘Light Beam Diffuser’ to fed the USB wire through.

Generic 5v, USB RGB-LED strips from Amazon were used for the lighting.

Turned out great ended up using natural color filament. It let the light show up better than using a white.

looks fantastic! another user just informed me the top cap wasn’t on the build plate file (the cap resides in the raw files though) so I will add that when I get home this evening.

im trying to print the cone first, but it keeps failing. do you have any tips? 5mm brim failed. 10mm inner and outer brim failed 95%. inner outer 10mm brim with no brim gap just failed at 85%. as it gets taller the nozzle clicks on it now and then eventually knocking it loose. bambu labs A1, .40 nozzle. PETG

let me take a look at the profile when I get to my PC. I have a PETG profile that might be worth a shot.

ive only had a 3dp for a month, but when i printed a UFO lamp i had the same issue. i had to slow all the speeds down to 25%, and used a 3 layer raft. not ideal but it got there in the end. problem was a combination of getting tall and wobbly on the BBL A1 which caused the clipping issue you mentioned. with the mars attack guy im thinking of trying to chop it just above the eyes, so the large brain cactus makes the entire oversize brain but i just havent had time to play around with it yet.

also the drain holes can easily be made with a drill, not really crucial in the actual print design

It's in the raw model STL files. Hmm I'm not sure why the print profile is shrinking just the top when I upload it here. I've removed the print profile until I can get it correct. I appreciate you bringing that to attention!

I think I accidentally printed the same side of the saucer twice where the build plates aren't labeled and the original top piece is likely just fine. I apologize for the confusion I caused!

UPDATE: I just found the file I was looking for in the RAW files. Its just not on the build plate. I am in the middle of printing this out and just noticed that the files that are provided its missing the top dome part. Is there any way you can upload that part, please?
