Description

Mounts to the side and back of a Banbu x1 carbon printer. redirects the purge waist to the side. Into a removable bin.

It has holes to mount a set of magnets that hold the removable bin in place.

There are hole to mount with the screws around the poop shoot. I have found it better to mount with double sided tape. not using the holes. the screws are self tapping. these are problematic to put new screws.

Two of the parts are meant to be glued together. Minimizing the support material needed. the part can be printed with minimal support.

The edge rail help the filament not get stuck. If you open the STL the default orientation is not optimal.

The design orientation is shown in the 3mf file.

There are edge rim thickening to save on material but keep strong.

The metal piece that came with the printer is intended to be mounted on the side. using the default screws and M3 nut pressed into the print. The print helps distribute the load. This extension will need support.

A filament Y that goes around the corner is:

The magnets are 6mm dia and glued in. I used it for a long time without installing the magnets. But once installed bin homes nicely.

Doesn't work with AMS Hub, also blocks fan vents.

what printer is it doing that with? It works fine with the x1c I have. I can understand on a different printer it might cover a vent that is different. I would like to know what problem it has with the AMS?

in exploring the issue I see they changed the x1c from my version. I have an x1c that I received around feb of 23. It has no vent where I see one on the photos. I would be happy to change the model to accommodate the vent. But I need to define where it is. Apparently another change is where the AMS hub is located. Again probably a simple change. But I need to define its location.

Not a fan of this design because glueing the pieces together is an absolute pain given the two pieces don't have a convenient way to clamp together. I wanted to like this design but gave up trying to get glue to set. Consider a jig or something to make this easier to do. If there is an easy way then provide that instruction please.

Does not fit if you have the AMS Hub, also even if you didn't have the AMS Hub and you installed this, it blocks the fan vents at the back. I just wasted a load of filament making this.

My first print outside the internal images. I printed it. Section 1 required multiple attempts. The issue was the cantilever spool mount. It required additional support braces during printing. It looked cool, which was why I printed it. The hope was to stop my Carbon X1 from carping on my desk and floor. It was a learning experience, and wasted half a spool of filament and a day of printing. it's printed now, but I'm not going to use it.

You listed the diameter of magnets but what is the depth?

because the magnets fit in a hole. I used 6mm dia x 2mm long, but many lengths would work just fine. 6mm dia x 1 or 6mm dia x 3. it defines how much grab the magnets have but very little is needed. I used it for months before installing the magnets.

I wish it would be easier to attach the “slide” to the funnell. I’m ok with gluing it but a bit more surface area for the glue to adhere
