Description

Overall, the original model is fantastic and very cute! 
But, after printing a couple of them for some colleagues, I decided to make a few improvements:

  1. Increased thickness of the trunk significantly, making it much less likely to snap.
  2. Removed floating layers over the front and rear legs
  3. Increased legs “axles” thickness by 50%, making them less likely to snap (as requested by @ccbailey)


There are still some quite aggressive overhangs over the legs, but at least it is no longer floating lines, which will just end up being stuck someplace else on the model :-)

Any chance you could reenforce the legs axle? I keep printing these for a toddler who drops it and the legs snap lol edit, actually maybe i could just add a modifier to print 100% infill there Gonna try your model tho! as those floating areas come out poorly! Thanks for the remix!

Depending on how large you scale the Elephant, there might not be any room in the axle to add more infill - so I went ahead and increased the thickness of the axles by 50%, while remaining the same tolerance as before :-) I have updated the Print Profile with this new version. Please let me know, if that makes it strong enough :-D And yes, those floating areas were quite troublesome. But be mindful that my remix still has some quite aggressive overhangs at the legs, so don't expect 100% perfect results. It would be quite difficult for me to fix those areas entirely without access to the original design file. But at least this remix should improve it a fair bit! :-)

I notice your file has supports OFF, but gets floating cantilever warning. Should we still enable support?

The elephant will print succesfully without supports. But enabling supports could give cleaner overhangs over the legs - however, tree supports aren’t able to reach those spots perfectly, so the supports would need to be printed on the actual legs of the model, not just the Build Plate, which might ruin the surface finish a bit there. If you do decide to enable supports, please ensure that there are no supports at the ‘axle’ which goes through the model, connecting the legs :-)
