Description

Description

What is the purpose of this model?

This is a protective terminal cap for use on standard 9V batteries. Some use cases include:

  • Protects 9V batteries when not in use
  • Shields the battery contacts, reducing the risk of a short circuit
  • Protects battery contacts from damage due to dust, dirt and contamination
  • Prevents unwanted electrical discharges

For the city where I live, when we recycle batteries, we are asked to put electrical tape over the terminals before putting them in a zip lock bag so they don't short circuit. At less than a gram of plastic each, I just print these instead of using tape.

Fitment Note

Despite there being a standard for terminal sizes and spacing, there is just enough +/- in the spec standard (and printer tolerances) that the caps fit some brands of 9V batteries slightly better than others. This has been tested on many brands, however and should work well enough.

Thanks! I like that photo and the bokeh / portrait effect with the second cap in the background. Good picture!
