Description

Background

This is a remix to several spool desiccant containers. I re-drew this one specifically for the Bambu Lab Re-Usable Spools.

I changed the diameters and lengths for better fitment into the Bambu Lab spool. I also adjusted the threads and made them with a 45 degree thread angle so you do not need supports nor finely tuned overhangs to produce good results. I adjusted the thread lead-in and lead-outs for a cleaner look. Designed the end caps to match the hole pitch of the holes in the Bambu spool. Added press-fit features for the end caps to help securely hold them into place.

Use Instructions

  • Press-fit the end caps into each of the corresponding body components, ensuring to align the pins of the body with the holes on the caps. You can use a couple drops of superglue around the pins if you ware worried about the caps becoming dislodged.
  • Insert the female body & cap assembly into the spool
  • Fill the female assembly with desiccant beads up to the bottom of the thread line (this ensures the cap will thread and in also let the beads tumble as the roll rotates).
  • Thread the male body & cap assembly into the female assembly.

Here is a link to the silica beads I used (4 containers uses about 0.5lbs)

Custom Infill End Cap Option

I added a custom infill 3MF option if you did not want to print the default circles version. You can open the 3MF and edit the following to achieve the desired result you are looking for:

Really nice holder for your Bambu spools. The inside screens were a little bit of a pain to install but they will not come out. Which is really good thing, I used a blunt hammer to get them to seat properly. Overall a really nice print. I printed two of them on my A1 mini no problem, I’m trying one without the screen and just using my desiccant bag inside of it, it will help hold it in place.

I’m new at 3D printing and this worked great. Keeping everything nice and dry. Thank you for sharing.

Had no issues. Came out flawless.

Perfect. I had difficulty assembling it as some force was needed, and my fingers were too short.

I took the opportunity to try and print with support for PLA from bambulab and this print turned out really smooth as you can see from the picture. I did not expect the PLA support-W to print out this nicely. also as an added bonus, this model, when done four times turns out to be roughly 234g of material, which is just about the right amount to go through one sample spool provided by bamboo lab. Great design! I scaled it to 95% in x&y so it would fit some of my smaller cardboard spools.
