NEW ADD-ON - Storage System Base Units

This is a redesigned version of my original painting light arch, the following improvements have been made:

  • Redesigned the geometry of every single piece to allow for them to be printed lying down. This reduces the chances of failure (which were often reported) to basically zero. It also makes the arch stronger and in my opinion more aesthetically pleasing.
  • Changed the connection system to no longer require a registration tool. The pieces self align making assembly much quicker.
  • Designed it for friction fit so glue is no longer required. Additionally, the tolerance on the LED strip now means you don't need to adhere that in place either. The whole arch can now be dismantled if needed.
  • Optimised the print profile for quicker print times.

Standing 0.8m wide by 0.4m high, it's perfect for painting, miniatures, electronics, photography, crochet, or any sort of hobby where even, all-round light is needed. It doesn't require glue for assembly and the only thing you need to add is a 10mm wide LED strip of your preferred colour temperature. I used an adjustable temperature COB led strip from Amazon. I've also included makers supply links for all appropriately sized LED strips. 1.5m of LED strip should be more than enough, and you can probably get away with 1.25m at minimum. If you go with 1m, you'll have poor illumination near the bases.

The bases are designed to be removable for convenient storage.

Tip for removing supports from inside the sockets—remove as much as you can with pliers and then carefully push in the socket of another piece. This will compress all the remaining support material to the back and can be carefully removed with tweezers or needle nosed pliers.

Also included is a compact profile for 4 vertical arch pieces that replace the first and last two on the main body. This reduces the overall width from 890mm to 660mm, but does weaken the general structure as well as introduce some sharp bends for the LED strip.

I've also created a set of Light Arch Upgrades including:

  • Camera mount for filming and streaming your painting sessions

  • Wall mount to turn your light arch into an accent light while also storing it out the way

  • Desk clamps to secure your light
