Description

UPDATE (10/17/23): I've added a set with about 6mm removed. I realized that I designed the weight around my AMS, which has the hydra mod. This newer version fits more snug to the sides of a Bambu spool and has thinner end caps that won't rub on the guides of the AMS.

INITIAL RELEASE: This is a spool weight/desiccant holder designed to add either 400g of weight or a container full of desiccant to your spools. The design was made in shapr3D and was modelled to fit the Bambu Lab Spools in order to prevent issues when using the AMS. The diameter at the center of the spool is 52.4mm, so it should fit a range of spools. With batteries, the weight adds approximately 400g of weight, which I'm finding works great for preventing AMS feed related issues and spools skipping. The center is open with slots for desiccant to work and includes a center guide for adding batteries instead.

I use adaptive layer height, but 0.2mm should work just fine.

Hello, overall I'm thrilled with your idea, it works really well, gives off a good weight and the roll stays in the AMS where it's supposed to. But... the revolver comes out of the printer almost in pieces. because the inner wall is too thin to print. I also put the wall generator on Arachne and the seam on the back. Despite everything, the best option for me. I will print 3 more for my Hydra AMS! Thank you for your effort

I'll work on this. It used to print the walls just fine, but somewhere along the line I made it too thin. I'll find the original and get this fixed.

Are they suppose to turn with the spool? Mine are too wide to turn.

I'm not understanding what you mean. Can you provide a picture?

I finally got what you were asking. No, it's fine if they don't spin. They're meant to add weight, so whether it spins or not doesn't impact the functionality.

I tried it again yesterday, and it wouldn’t rewind with the weight being stationary. I made sure it wasn’t screwed on too tight. I put a D battery loosely in it place, it worked flawlessly. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. Thanks

Functioned exactly as intended. Unfortunately, these silica gel holders were not optimal for my needs, but they still worked as intended.

Basically would be a nice idea but doesn't fit in my original AMS because it's too long, at least 6mm❗

I just found out thile reason this is too long is I designed it around the hydra mod. I will make a narrow version for standard AMS. My apologies!

Hey, sounds good, basically you could provide step files of the main axle and I could made it by my own, your thread is too short to cut from this side so.....you probably will understand... ;-)

I just uploaded it because of the issue you're having. It's got slimmer end caps and about 2mm taken out of the body itself.

will this work with your Universal Cardboard Spool Adapter?

Negative. The idea behind the cardboard spool adapter was that it needed to fit as many spools as possible, and many of them have small diameter cores. That's why I added the dessicant/weight slot on the adapter to allow for weighing it down a bit if needed. I recommend using either tire weights or fishing weights to fill the center. That's the biggest bang for your buck weight-wise.

I had one failure before I added a brim. with the brim it printed perfectly in PETG. (I'm a noob, so this might have been a problem with my fans or settings. The failure was the print coming off the bed at the side closest to my fans)

The aux fan is a common problem with different filaments. I usually turn it off If I see issues there. Also, if your build plate has adhesion issues you could try cleaning it or using a melamine sponge. Thanks for the feedback!
