Description

Update 4/1/24. Underwater hull parts are now available too

- see multi coloured version of this model here https://makerworld.com/en/models/15006#profileId-14776

These models are a half size single colour reworks of my earlier 1:500 multi colour models.

Some minor support structures have been included within the models - see yellow and red colour coding in order to allow them to print without slicer supports.

I think it is ok to leave the yellow colour coded supports in place permanently - but I would recommend snipping off the red coded supports if you want to make the ship a little bit more authentic.

Prints in about 8 hrs on a Bambu Lab X1C 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height.

STL files provided for each ship, plus pre-sliced Bambu Lab X1C/P1P 3mf print profile that contains both ships.

3 Test prints were done with Arvia - with the lighter green one in the photos being the final fully completed print.

6 Test prints were done on Iona - with the more complete model in BL PLA Silk Silver actually being the first test print - and having a few faults on it - which were gradually corrected with the smaller partial prints. It will print in PLA Silk - but some of the details like the little lamps on the top deck fail - so it is recommended just using Silver PLA - as per the last few partial prints.

Filament for the test prints was sponsored by Bambu Lab.

For background info about the development of these models see this forum thread.

For timelapes of Iona and Arvia - see this youtube video.

Modelled from photos and videos using Fusion 360.

Single and Multicolour 1:1000 models on P&O Cruise ship Ventura also available on this site.

Note that I have improved the text on this model when compared to ventura - by insetting the text 0.25mm, rather than it protroding 0.5mm like it does on the Ventura model.

Multi colour versions of these models will probably be released once I have done some test prints - but note that they will take over 24 hours to print and will require a Bambu Lab X1C and 3xAMSs and lots of filament.

This is a personal project. I have no connection to P&O Cruises or Carnival Corporation other than being a customer.

Models hosted exclusively on Makerworld until Dec 2023.

This version is released under a CC Non Commercial No Derivatives license due the P&O Cruises branding.

Hi, great looking models. i was on iona in november 2023 and would love to print a single part version like this, scaled down to 50% but multicoloured like the other version mostly at 0.08 to keep as much detail as possible, or wouldn't that be possible. Here's a picture of the model that you can buy from the giftshop onboard the ship.

Thanks, there is a 1:1000 Iona model in this upload too - but it is split into two halves - that could be lined back up again before slicing. If you are talking about a 1:2000 version of Iona, it is probably possible by simply scaling the model down by 50% and using a 0.2mm nozzle at 0.1mm layer height. Print a 1:2000 version with a 0.4mm nozzle would require a fair bit of rework to the model.

Thanks for the fast reply but the link sent me to the Arvia single plate multicoloured print and i couldn't see a download for the iona. Ideally i would like to print smaller than a single plate but this sounds like a bad idea so i've decided to do one that would fit on a single plate.

printed as a gift in one committee to allow it to be hand painted. detail is amazing and printed superbly for 98%. some post print work to remove stringing inside some of the tiny detailed structures but that’s all. impressive

Thanks - have just uploaded the Arvia multi colour version - 28hrs print time and 11 colours needed though - so I would recommend trying one of the single colour versions first:)
