Description

The gömböc is the first known physical example of a class of convex three-dimensional homogeneous bodies, called mono-monostatic, which, when resting on a flat surface have just one stable and one unstable point of equilibrium.

 

It is printed in two symmetrical halves, cyanoacrylate is needed to join the two parts together. Be careful with this step because it may cause it to not work. It cannot be printed on a single piece because the use of supports means that it does not have the perfect geometry.

 

It is not possible to place the Gömböc in any position other than with the sharp side facing up.

Nice design, glued both parts together but its not working. Wasn't able to get the perfect geometry.

Pushes the limits of what the printed can do and it works fine. Could be improved two ways: 1 - adding pins to align gluing it together 2 - infill speed was maxed out while using an intersecting pattern (cubic, which I love), causing massive collisions while printing. Either slow the infill speed or switch to a non-intersecting pattern (like gyroid). Note: z-seam alignment matters for ability to function properly. Do not ask handy to duplicate the model or this could change!

too much stair case effect on the side. i suggest to use the other profile with thinner layers

mah, in teoria dovrebbe muoversi di continuo perché non ha un baricentro. ma invece sta fermo e comunque si ferma subito. non ci giocano manco le gatte.

Printed good but was unable to glue it together “balanced” so it would find a spot and stop.

I’ve been messing with this for hours and I still find it so trippy that it just wobbles, stops, then rolls lol
