Description

I obtained the measurements for the INLAND cardboard spools, making them part of the CBAS series and compatible with the AMS, all thanks to Illuminati_printz.

The spool needs around 156 grams of filament with 15% infill, making it not lightweight but rather sturdy and smooth-running. So far it has always fit perfectly into the spools core. The Silica Compartment Lids add approximately another ~15 grams.

Updates

24/02/02 Minor revisions

The thread is now 3mm longer, and the chamfer angle has been slightly adjusted. These modifications do not affect compatibility with the previous version or existing prints. Due to the adjustments, approximately 2 grams of weight are lost.

Assembly

To assemble, first remove a cardboard side of the INLAND spool and replace it with a printed half, some of the glue residue may need to be removed. Hold the spool and turn it over, then remove the other side, now screw the halves together until they are tight.

The Label Space Module (LSM) can be inserted into both parts of the spool, preferably when the spool is not yet loaded, and it may require some effort depending on your printer.

The Silica Compartment Lid (SCL) can be easily screwed into the thread of one of the spool cores.

It's best to wrap the filament with painter's tape beforehand to prevent it from unwinding on its own.

Accessories

This spool is part of the CBAS series and can make use of these accessories.

For those who prefer not to use the holes in the spool to secure the filament, here is the appropriate filament clip:

Thanks! Did you print without bottom layers or is the filament so translucent?

Replying to @Thyristor :
im not sure, i used your published profiles... it is transparent petg but only prints slightly translucent unless i tweak infill to 100%, in the same direction, and print it really hot and slow, and even then its still not totally clear. ... turns out this spool was ever so slightly too small for some of the newer inland rolls and so the ams can't retract with it... wrapping some masking tape around the center fixed it.

Super great and useful print! printed super well with only a few bits of stringing, but that was likely my fault using Silk thats been out a little bit.

this spool would greatly benefit with a notch to hold the cardboard sleeve in place. having retraction issues with this spool when the cardboard sleeve rotates freely after filament is more than half used.

Works great in ams. Transfer from cardboard to this was also a breeze. Great model!

Great print, printed two for my recent microcenter purchase. Much better than the cardboard that was falling apart from a brand new roll of glow in the dark filament.

Printed nicely. These reels bailed me out when my AMS did not like the cardboard spools on my Inland PLA, and the rims I had used one previous Inland filament were too small. The centers on the Inland PLA were too small to use the OEM Bambu Labs reuseable spools and also too small for reuseable spools sold by Inland which must be for thier refill filament. These fit right in and are working nicely.

Quick, easy and fits in AMS perfectly. No more cardboard spools getting stuck on the AMS lid!
