Description

A VERSATILE EVERYDAY COMPANION

Imagine having a versatile tool that effortlessly fits into your pocket, ready to tackle an array of tasks.

Meet the SmartBits – a compact marvel that seamlessly combines multiple functions in a sleek design.

This tool serves as both a screwdriver and a bit holder, providing easy access to 8 different bits for various applications.

Activating the tool is a breeze – a simple slide on the exposed bar causes the bits to extend from the opposite end. The magnet effortlessly guides them back into position. Never forget it open.

Thanks to the additional embedded magnets, each bit is securely held in place, ensuring they remain steadfast whether you're on the move or storing the SmartBits in your pocket.

It's the ideal companion for your everyday needs, effortlessly blending convenience and functionality.

Print Instructions:

Support is required for both the Base and the Slider. Please verify the 3mf file with Bambu Studio if there's any uncertainty.

Place the Slider with the magnet holes on the build plate and add regular support.

Position the Base with the side opening on the build plate and add regular support.

There is an alternative version of the base with flat bottom you can print with it on the build plate, but it requires support too.

No support is needed for the Button and Lid.

I recommend printing everything with a minimum resolution of 0.16mm.

Bill of Materials (BOM):

You'll need some magnets and a few screws:

  • 12 magnets, 5 or 6mm x 2mm
  • 4 screws, M3 Socket Head, 8mm

Assembly Instructions:

Start with the base and insert 2 magnets into the two rectangular holes; no glue is required there.

Next, with a bit of glue, add 1 magnet to the Base in the slider housing. Be cautious, as this magnet is the only one that needs attention to its side, opposite to the one you put in the center hole of the slider (to be attracted).

Now, take the Slider and glue 9 magnets on the bottom holes; again, the center one must have the same side as the magnet you put in the base slider housing.

Insert the slider into the base, add the lid, and tighten the lid screws.

Finally, attach the button to the slider with the last screw.

If the slider doesn't return to its position, slightly loosen the screws.

If you want I added also a cord endcap to be printed, look at the pictures, insert the paracord or similar in the bottom hole of the Endcap_Base make one simple knot on both ends, finally close it with the Endcap_Lid.

Also, take a look at the Magnetic Pocket Screwdriver I crafted.

Hope you like it!

The layer between the magnet and the bit should be thinner, otherwise it will affect the magnet's attraction.

Printed great. I used Bambu PLA-CF and Hatchbox Iron Red and it looks wonderful. I have some longer bits in it that I use for printer maintenance, so I don't intend it as a pocket item, but it organizes them in my drawer and makes for a great way to access my bits easily.

Replying to @user_2665980443 :
I used 325 paracord since it's what I had on hand, which is about 3mm.

Fixed for a1 mini indeed! A stronger magnet or shorter depth to fit the magnet would help with the magnetistim. I added magnets to each of the holders also to avoid the bits from fallen out too. Cheers!
