Description

This housing lets you make a triple XT30 connector. I use this one for extending the PSU cables of my MK3.

Print

…at 0.2mm using a 0.4mm nozzle. Feel free to use any solid filament. Support is not required.

Additional parts / equipment for each housing:

  • 1.5mm² braid wire
  • soldering iron + solder
  • 3x male or female XT30 connectors
  • 2mm Ø shrink tubings ( usually included )
  • 1x 10mm Ø shrink tubing
  • 1x 2mm cable tie
  • 2x 16mm M3 screws
  • 2x M3 nuts
  • Superglue ( I glued the connectors in the flat part of the housing in order to stiffen them )
  • Hot glue ( Recommended for the male connectors since they are a little bit shorter )

Assembly

  1. Put all shrink tubings on the cables. The large one needs to bundle all cables.
  2. Strip the cables and solder them to the XT30 connectors. I've seen some connectors with some kind of embossment ( plus minus symbols etc. ) on them. In that case you need to flatten their surface using a file or sanding paper first.
  3. Shrink the small tubings.
  4. Super glue the connectors to the flat part of the housing. You can also glue them together for additional stiffness. Watch their alignment! Otherweise connecting will be sluggish or impossible later on. This step is especially difficult for male connectors. I recommend using the female counterpart for alignment but you need to be very careful not to glue any of the different connector types together.
  5. Insert the M3 screws and guide them between the cables as shown in the pictures.
  6. ( male connector only ) Add some some hot glue for additional stiffness optionally.
  7. Align the larger shrink tubing and shrink it.
  8. Perceive the lack of this shrink tubing and continue with step 1 :P
  9. Insert the M3 nuts into the counterpart. Tighten them with another M3 screw from the inside if they refuse to align.
  10. Put both pieces together and tighten the screws evenly.
  11. Apply the cable tie to the cable relief.
