This looks like a nice installation and idea but depending on where folks are that might do the same thing, this could be a code violation and possible safety hazard. This is in effect a junction box since there is a wire connection inside. There’s requirements those have to meet in various jurisdictions including flammability and rating/certification requirements and could affect insurance coverage. Apologies because it does look nice but folks may want to check local regulations before installing.
