Description

I designed this little shelving system to hold rolls of filament.

No Hardware Required! All 3d Printed Parts!

**UPDATE 1/07/24! I added a Stability & Connection Package! It allows you to add stability and connect multiple towers together

Download it here https://makerworld.com/en/models/128634#profileId-139327

**UPDATE 1/09/24! I added a Tool/Parts Tray that mount directly on top of the shelf system!

Downloaded it here! https://makerworld.com/en/models/131452#profileId-142595

Some people do not have floor space, or maybe they live in an apartment and cannot adhere things to the wall.

This is nice if you have some table space, it would even work on the floor.

It allows you to grab a roll from the middle of your pile without toppling, or having to hold the other rolls.

Each roll has its own shelf.

Not everybody has 150 rolls of filament and needs massive commercial shelving

You can stack them one tower tall, or make as many smaller towers that you want

There are only 4 individual parts.

Easy Assembly!

  1. Start off with 4 FEET
  2. 1 SHELF
  3. 4 POSTS
  4. 1 SHELF
  5. Repeat until you are satisfied with the height, and then you screw on 4 POST TOP CAPS

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!!

I printed all of this at .20 Layer Height 20% Gyroid, 6 side walls and 5 top and bottom

ENJOY!

made a huge filament tower, and used this for a custom storage rack that fits around my solar generator

First print failed due to the standing up topped over at 82% completion. Is this support to be printed with brims ?

I have not had to use a raft. Try using a 15mm brim and slow down your outer wall speed to maybe 150

Second print failed as well with 1 layer brim at 82% completion

Thirdprint was near success, 2 of the beams started wiggeling near the end so the last 2 layers got messed up. but could even it out by sanding. Can this somehow be printed lying down instead of upright?

This is a handy little shelf system that I can see possibly growing into something even more. Looking forward to printing some more of these.

going great so far! adding a layer or two day by day. Do you happen to know what the max height in rolls is?

I have measured my rolls to be 3 in and I would say there is about a quarter inch or maybe slightly more left of room

Hey! So I have successfully printed around 5-6 full layers with zero issues. For some reason now the last two times I tried printing the four posts, it fails around 80%. I'm new to printing so assuming it's something I am doing wrong. Let me know if you have any suggestions thanks.

Prints great! I'm using PETG, as I have a lot of it at the moment. Now to make more!

Great print! I looked everywhere for a commercially available vertical spool shelf, but I could not find one. This takes a lot of time to print and a lot of filament, but of course that's no fault of the designer. I finally got what I wanted, which is a vertical spool rack! Possibly the most useful thing I have printed!

I made the first one and ran out of blue so had to pick up in black. After running the p1p for nearly 24 hours straight and using up nearly a full spool of filament I got the white one done. I successfully used the stacking method to on the shelfs to print 6 of them in one go. I used a .35mm gap between each shelf and they were not exactly easy to separate but I managed it with a putty knife and some grunting. If I were to do it over I would go in and add some tiny cylinders or spheres between the shelfs to make them separate easier. All in all it's a great design and I appreciate the fact that it's all printed and requires no outside hardware. All of the screw parts fit together with no issues. I did use the suggestion of slowing the outer walls to 150 and auto generated outer brims on the risers and they printed with no problem.
