Description

A way to organize, transport and stack your gridfinity bins.

These crates stack independently. And while they could be used independently, the concept is the crate above acts as a lid for the crate below and secures the bins inside.

Here is a 1x1 6u sample crate set as a test print. It includes a single 1x1 6u crate, a 1x1 lid, and a 1x1 6u bin.

Sizes

1x1 6u sample crate set

2x4 -1u [lid] 4u, 6u, 8u

5x5 1u [lid], 4u, 6u, 8u

I have other sizes ready, if interested ask.

These are large bins. However, they have printed well for me without lifting -- if you let them cool on the plate (have patience)!!

I have found some colors / filaments benefit from corner brims, especially when close to the edge of the plate. I painted them on all plates.

Heights

The crates names are basedon the height of the bins which fit flush and interlock when stacked.  As such 6u crates are 1 gfu (7mm) taller than the inner bins. Likewise, the lid is noted as 1u [lid] is 14 mm tall plus the stacking ridge.

While they do not fit inside other Gridfinity system bins, they should stack next to them neatly.

I have tried several different clearances to make them easy to stack without binding. And think I have it just right.

Bins

The Gridfinity bins I based the clearances on are

Most standard graffiti bins will work. Of course I have not tried them all!

Plays well with others

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Note: These include the gridfinity half base, which takes a little longer to print but does not use any additional filament. I find the extra utility of being able to use half size bins worth the extra print time.
