Description

Toroidal Launcher - Threaded Cap Remix Template

This is a template model for my Toroidal Launcher design that can be remixed into any attachment you'd like! The template includes the interior thread profile along with a copy of the hexagon screen used on the bottom of the housing. When combined with the original launcher design the result is a simple two-stage gearbox.

 

The hex screen is 2.5mm thick and can easily be split along the Z-axis for remixing.

Print Settings

  • All prints pictured were made using Bambu PLA and the standard 0.20mm print profile.

Awesome accessory! for those that don't know what this is for, it replaces the bottom push on cap, threaded ring and lower planetary gear set that you manually rotate to make launcher spin. You can create your own handle for rotation and insert in to hex slot through the cap, or use @brentpeterson hex adapter that he's posted.

I modified this a bit to put a handle on the end, and it printed well and fitted the rest of the item well.

This was (I’m guessing) designed to be used to enable someone to fully enclose the mid-stage and output planetary gear layers since there are what, 4-5 different gear ratio iterations of the input gearing layer. While making that swap outside in a yard or field, you really don’t want to have to deal with picking up and cleaning dirt and grass out of your entire gear ‘solar system’ because you changed one level and the other ones came out by accident. I think this is a great idea! kudos
