Description

This Reusable Smart Picture Calendar can be used to track the date and day-of-week for any month.

Each month has a specially shaped name insert that blocks the 31st day of the month for 30-day months, and both the 31st and 30th for February, so you don't need to remember to skip those days.

The stand also has a 100mmx75mm cutout to display a picture. I recommend a Lithophane with a Bambu LED Lamp kit in the base to illuminate it. I created Lithophane Flowers for Each Month of the Year to go with the calendar. Prints from HueForge or any 2D photo would look great too.

I printed this on a BambuLab X1Carbon using PolyMaker PolyTerra PLA filament in Muted Blue, Muted White, and Cappuccino for the stand.

Usage Instructions

  • Move the two pegs to mark the day-of-week and date as it changes.
  • When the next month arrives, remove the picture and month name insert and replace with the ones from the next month.
  • The longer month inserts might be a tight fit, depending on the tolerances of your printer. Angling them down will help them fit through the hole, and applying a bit of force from the right will align the insert properly.

Assembly Instructions

  • Connect the front and back plate of the calendar together by lining up the pegs in the front plate with the holes in the back plate. They should snap into place, with a small amount of force, and be permanently attached. The front and back plate never need to be detached after this.
  • Depending on the tolerances of your printer, the pegs might loosely fit in the holes, and some glue (like superglue) can help attach these.
  • Slide the calendar into the stand so the inside corner lines up with the corner in the stand.

Printing Instructions

  • I recommend printing all pieces with a 0.2mm layer height and a 0.4mm nozzle with default settings, with a few exceptions:
    • Front and back plates can optionally be printed with 100% infill to simplify the print. They are thin, so only a few layers would print with sparse infill anyway, and this will avoid the infill pattern becoming visible on the surface of the print.
    • The stand should be printed on its right side, with auto supports enabled.
  • If you have an auxiliary cooling fan, place the stand close to it, and facing it. This should improve the bridging required at the top of the supports for a cleaner print.
  • If printing from the source files directly, the models with text can be “split to parts” to separate the text from the model, so it can be colored separately, if needed.
  • If printing without a multi-material-capable printer:
    • The back plate can be printed with a manual filament change to change the color. Add a pause in your slicer where the text starts (about 2mm from the build plate).
    • The month inserts can be printed on their back, and the text can be raised by 1mm from the insert in the slicer. Add a pause in your slicer where the text starts (about 3mm from the build plate), and manually change the filament to change the color.
