Description

An enclosure for Brian Wetland's Apple II Gamepad.

What you need

A PCB: I had it made by JLCPCB and painstakingly soldered the 0603 components. I now officially need a new set of eyes... I'll probably publish a through hole version eventually on my own github.

For the cable, I found these on AliExpress, they include a moulded strain relief. Only problem is they're the wrong gender, so I use a gender changer. If you're choosing to make your own cables with a male DB9, the case was designed for this model of strain relief.

Six self-threading screws. I designed for 3x13mm flat head screws.

Notes

This is my first multi-colour print profile. I don't have an AMS and I changed filament manually as needed as the three objects are printed one after the other. Someone let me know how well this works with an AMS. For the choice of colours, I tried to approximate the original colours of the vintage Apple Joystick. Ideally, the orange buttons would be a darker orange, and the bottom a darker shade of beige instead of gray.

I used self-threaded screws but you have to be careful when screwing them in to not break the posts (don't ask me how I know). Brian uses threaded inserts, but I guess I was lazy.

Also, speaking of the top part, for some reason BambuStudio places a first layer of brim (?) inside the posts. What this is about I cannot tell, but these can be removed with a fine pick.
