The A1 mini Wireless Charger is here! This is an official design model for the Wireless Charger Kit-K012.

Simply power on the charger with a Type-C cable and place your phone on the heatbed. The wireless charging will begin automatically. As it begins, the Z-axis will simulate the printing process by moving up and down for one cycle, and the logo and indicator lights will light up. You can also manually slide the toolhead along the X-axis, and even print a customizable nameplate for the A1 mini Wireless Charger in MakeMySign.

In order to adapt to the 3D printing processes and filaments, we specially designed 2 Power Modes (high & low) for you to choose to avoid phone overheating and warping of printed parts due to heat from high charging power. We also designed 2 Drive Modes (mode 1 and mode 2) to adapt to varying levels of friction generated during the Z-axis movement. This friction is caused by differences in filament materials and printing tolerances.

We hope you enjoy it!

Print preparation

  • You can preview the assembly diagram and create your favorite color schemes in Assembly View. Before printing, you can use the Assembly View function in Bambu Studio to access the assembly interface, customize your unique color scheme with the paint function, and preview the fully assembled model. (see the filament recommendation at the end of the article).

Installation and Operation Guide

* The glue used in the tutorial is 416 glue, other types of superglue can also be used for assembly

Choose Power Modes

The wireless charger offers two different power modes: high power mode and low power mode. Due to the heat generated by the circuit board, charging coil, and phone during charging, the charging pad can become hot while charging the phone. Please adjust the mode according to the heat resistance of the filament used for printing before the first charge

  • Low-power mode (5W): Use this mode if the heatbed is printed with filaments that have low heat resistance capabilities (such as PLA, PETG).
  • High-power mode (Max 15W): Use this mode if the heatbed is printed with filaments that have high heat resistance capabilities (such as ABS).

*It is recommended to use adapters that support the PD (Power Delivery) charging protocol or the QC (Quick Charge) charging protocol and need to meet the output power ≥ 18W and output voltage > 12V. The above adapters can activate the maximum power of the wireless charger, but the actual charging power of the device to be charged is determined by the charging strategy of the device. For optimal charging efficiency, please align the phone's charging coil with the center of the heatbed and avoid using thick phone cases.

Choose Drive Modes

The button on the back side of the printer can switch the motor and LED modes.

Adjustable Z-axis Height

The Z-axis height is adjustable. By removing the top cover and turning the hexagonal nut, you can adjust the initial position of the Z-axis. It is recommended to adjust the Z-axis clockwise to the top when using it for the first time. The Z-axis movement path is restricted, keeping a safe distance between the toolhead and the phone during operation.

Nameplate Customization

The nameplate can be redesigned and replaced according to your preferences using Make My Sign.

You can click the Customize button to open the nameplate template we designed for you, or design your own nameplate.

Design Takeaways-Linear Motion System

We have designed a linear motion system which is utilized in the Z-axis module of this A1mini model. By combining elastic slides and stainless steel pins, smooth motion is achieved in a compact space, while adapting to different filaments and printer conditions.

We believe this design can be applied to other models requiring similar linear motion systems. Therefore, we included a design introduction to this system, and uploaded the relevant model files to the "Raw model" file section. We hope this idea will be useful for creators.

Product Introduction

This is a creative model of a wireless charger with a Q version of the A1 mini design, and the compatible creative model components are Wireless Charger Kit-K012.

It not only simulates the appearance of the A1 mini, but also simulates the movement of the A1 mini. Power it on with a USB Type-C (not included), place a phone with wireless charging capability on the heatbed, and the charging will start. The Z-axis will simulate the printing preparation process for one cycle, and the display screen and indicator lights will also light up temporarily. In addition, the toolhead can be manually moved to any position on the X-axis, or you can use Nameplate Customizer to design a custom nameplate for your charger.

Considering that you may be using different consumables for printing, this wireless charger is designed with two power levels. When using PLA-based consumables with poor heat resistance, you can use the low-power mode to prevent the printed parts from warping due to the heat generated by the phone and coil. At the same time, due to the different consumables and printers, different surface roughness of the printed models will be brought, to ensure the smooth movement of the Z-axis, we have also designed two drive modes with different power.

Hope you enjoy it!

Print preparation

Before starting printing, you can use the Assembly View function in Bambu Studio to enter the assembly interface, customize your unique color scheme with the paint function, and feel the visual effect at any time (recommended color schemes and corresponding consumables are at the end of the article).

Installation and Debugging

* The glue used in the assembly video is 416 glue, other styles such as 502 glue can also be used for assembly

The wireless charger provides two different power modes: high power mode and low power mode. Due to the heat generated by the circuit board, charging coil, and phone during charging, the charging pad can become hot while charging the phone. Before the first charge, please adjust the mode according to the heat resistance of the consumables used for printing.

  • Low power mode (5W): When the heatbed is printed with consumables with lower heat resistance (such as PLA, PETG), please use this mode.
  • High power mode (up to 15W): When the heatbed is printed with consumables with higher heat resistance (such as ABS), please use this mode.

* It is recommended to use adapters that support the PD (Power Delivery) charging protocol or the QC (Quick Charge) charging protocol, and need to meet the output power ≥ 18W, output voltage > 12V. The above adapters can activate the maximum power of the wireless charger, but the actual charging power of the device to be charged is determined by the charging strategy of the device. Please try to align the phone's charging coil with the center of the heatbed, and avoid using thick phone cases, in order to achieve the best charging effect.

Switch the motor and LED working mode by pressing the switch.

All drive modes are arranged in a fixed cyclical order (1 to 7). Each press of the drive mode switch will cause the wireless charger to switch to the next mode. The A1 Mini wireless charger is incompatible with modes 3 to 6. To prevent potential damage to the model and components, please do not stay in modes 3 to 6 for a long time.

Wireless Charging Component Working Mode Demonstration

Before powering on, you can turn the hexagonal nut at the top of the screw clockwise to adjust the Z-axis to the top, which makes it easier to put the phone in and out. During subsequent use, if you need to adjust the Z-axis height, you can also remove the top cover and turn the hexagonal nut according to your needs. At the same time, the movement path of the Z-axis is restricted, so you don't have to worry about the toolhead damaging the phone during movement.

Personalized Creation

We have reserved a space for sticking nameplates, which can be easily designed and replaced according to your personal preferences.

Enhanced LeadScrew
I've tried printing this at least 10 times, and it fails every single time right around layer395-400. Something at that point is causing a high spot on the print that the nozzle keeps running into until it pulls the print completely off of the bed. I've tried slow speed, adding lots of brim, changing infill to adaptive cubic, reducing infill on the modifier section from 60% to 50% and a few other changes I'm forgetting. So far, I have yet to print this successfully on my P1S.

Same thing is happening to me on the a1 mini. I'm on to my third now, trying petg instead of pla. This is the last piece I need too Edit: petg printed all the way but the support trees were a fused blob at the same spot it normally failed at. So once again, failed print

Love the model. Haven't actually printed it yet - but instead thought I would have a go and producing an A1 Mini animation by importing the STLs in to blender, colouring them, and then basically following the build instructions video to build up the printer in Blender. Am hoping to maybe use something like it with an actual model being built up on. the build plate as the thumbnail for one of my A1 Mini specific models. that’s actually really sick. instead of just a triangle you should render it printing the first layer of a benchy. great rendering I have been wanting to learn blender lately

Hello, Hi stephen, To what power source did you connect the USB Type C cable to? My kit seems to be unresponsive to any power source. I think the board is dead on arrival. Thanks.

took a bit to get this completed. Take care in fitting parts prior to assembly. Printed the build plate and holder in ASA didn’t have ABS on hand wanted to use the 25w charging feature and it’s recommended to use a filament with high heat tolerance, PLA would deform and didn’t want to chance PETG. added custom name plate in blue and black. The Bambu studio logo in front thats back lite could have used at least another layer of green bit of white light is showing through on one corner, added green color fill to the end of the black print arm cover this could have come out smoother. all of these issues can be fixed later. Ensure you don’t over tighten the mode button, had to remove bottom cover and loosen the screws (minor fix). This will make a great conversation starter on my work desk.
