Magic Number Cards

Your friends will be stunned when you show them the powers given to you by your 3d printer, as you guess the number that they secretly chose. An easy print, these credit card sized jokers can fit in your wallet, and they are well worth having with you.

The mind reading trick:

You tell someone to choose a number from 1 to 31, but to not tell you what it is. For fun, if you don't know their birthday, you could tell them to choose the day of the month they were born. Then, you give them all 5 of the cards, and tell them to look through them, and give you all of the cards that have their secret number. Then, as they give you the last card, you tell them what their number is, and watch their reaction as they “realize” that you have just read their mind. It sure is funny to watch the reactions of those know-it-alls, and just everybody, when you hit 'em with this one. 99% percent of people will scratch their heads for an hour without ever figuring out the trick.

But here's how it works:

It's all math, complex but simple. All you do is look at the number in the top left corner of each card when they hand it to you. As you get the cards from them, mentally add up the sum of all of the top-corner-numbers. Your answer is the number that they secretly chose. And don't worry, the math is really easy, because the corner numbers are 1, 2, 4 , 8, & 16!

For revealing their number, there are a lot of funny ways to do it, and you can come up with your own. But here are a few that I think are really good:

• Look them in the eye until they get uncomfortable, then suddenly say their number.
• Ask them what their favorite color is, and then say "Well, psychologically, if your favorite color is (blank), then your number must be (their chosen number).
• And the best one of all: hold the cards up to the light so that they think you are using the light to see some secret of the cards, and then tell them the number. Tell them to try to do the trick (if they don't ask you to let them try), and then find out how hard you laugh when they hold the cards up to the light thinking they are so smart.

This is a mathematical trick, and it works 100% of the time, guaranteed. If you guess their number incorrectly, rest assured they either left a card out, or gave you one that did not have their number. You can prove this to them by making them tell you the number, and then checking the cards.
