Hex Lamp - A Modern, Minimalist Lamp for your home

Update: The model has been updated with an optional striped shade and a way to easily turn the lamp on and off.

The Hex Lamp is a sleek and modern lamp inspired by geometric patterns. Featuring a honeycomb-style design, it provides a soft and warm glow, making it a perfect addition to any cozy space.

Simple operation: Gently push down on the lamp to turn it on and off.

Required hardware: This lamp is specifically designed to be used with the IKEA KAPPLAKE LED spotlight.

Dimensions: Height: 130 mm, Diameter: 120 mm

Printing:

• Layer height: I recommend 0.12 mm (to minimize visible layer lines on the shade)
• Material: I think white PLA provides nice light diffusion, but feel free to experiment with other colors and materials. You can even use the paint tool in BambuStudio to paint the shade if you feel creative - please upload pictures in the comments if you do!
• Bed adhesion: You might need to bring your best bed adhesion game, I had some issues using the Textured PEI Plate. The Smooth PEI Plate with glue or the SuperTack plate worked very well.

Assembly:

Printed Parts: Base, Lock ring, Bottom plate, 3 x Springs, Shade

Hardware: IKEA Kapplake Spotlight

1. Mount the three Springs into the Base, make sure to press them all the way into the grooves.
2. Fit the Kapplake spotlight in the Base and secure it with the Lock ring.
3. Align the Bottom plate with the Springs and press the Base and Bottom plate together gently to secure them to each other. It can be a little tricky get all springs seated correctly but I believe in you, you can do it!
4. Mount the Shade by fitting it into the hexagonal grooves on the top of the Base.

Plug it in and enjoy your lamp!

This was one of my first 3D design projects, where I learned a lot about CAD and product design. It's been a fun project and the lamp has become an appreciated gift to friends and family.
