Description

Universal Spool Desiccant Holder: One Holder to Rule Them All!

Tired of desiccant holders that only work with one specific brand of spools? Meet the Universal Spool Desiccant Holder

Whether you’re using Bambu Lab spools, cardboard spools, or any other spool in your collection, this little champ is designed to fit a huge variety of spool types with no need for extra adapters. Just twist it on and let it do its thing!

Like its (slightly less versatile)  bambulab spool specific sibling, this holder keeps your filament safe from moisture by housing silica gel desiccant.

And the best part? You can leave the desiccant inside the container and toss the whole thing in a filament dryer when it needs a recharge as this is one of the very few desiccant holders that allow you to remove the containter from the spool without opening it.

If you’re using PLA, just be careful not to exceed its melting temperature, I'd stay below 45°C, PETG and ABS users, you’re in the clear to crank up the heat a bit more.

Included print profiles for PLA, PETG, and ABS ensure perfect results no matter what material you use to print it.

Upgrade your setup with this universal design that works across brands and spool types, especially handy for those cardboard spools that don’t always play nicely with other holders. Moisture-proofing your filament has never been this flexible (or stylish).

I have personally testes a variety of spools from, Bambulab (duh…), Sunlu, Esun, Overture, Eryone, Jayo, iBoss, Geeetech, Kexcelled… but I also have spent an unreasonable ammount of time researching 1 kg spools to make this viable for as many spools out there, this website really helped me fill in some gaps.

Check out the picture below to get a better idea of the compatible spools.

As long as the inner diameter is 50mm to 75mm this will fit, the gentle taper on the stopper and the base will help you center even the biggest spools, as for height, 54 to 68mm spools will fit nicely

Update 10/11/2025

Like many of you suggested, I finally added a “small holes" version, this should prevent the problem some of you had with desiccant falling out. Do not worry, you will still find the old version in the print profile, you just got to choose the “Small Holes” build plates, every other aspect of the model is identical meaning you can re-use your old stoppers and caps

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

If you liked this model consider giving me a boost, it's free but it really helps me making models like this!

P.S. For the Bambu Purists
If you’re reading this and thinking, “Why would I ever want to print with anything less than the perfection that is Bambu Lab filament?”—don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Check out my Bambu Lab-specific version for a snug, proprietary fit. Because hey, if you’re all-in on Bambu, you might as well go all the way!

Still not satisfied?  Your non bambulab spools are just a little too big and hardly fit in your AMS? You won't believe it but I have a solution for that too!

Check out my AMS Lid Riser, it will allow you to use spools with a bigger diameter in your ams without loosing the ability to use the AMS as a dry box
